CNN —The Biden administration is expected to re-designate the Houthis as a specially designated global terrorist (SDGT) entity amid continued attacks by the Yemen-based militia, a source familiar told CNN Tuesday. The administration removed the Houthis’ SDGT designation and de-listed it as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO) in February 2021, after it was designated by the Trump administration in its final weeks. Both the SDGT and FTO designations trigger an asset freeze, but only an FTO designation imposes immigration restrictions on members, according to the State Department. According to the International Maritime Organization, shipping accounts for close to 3% of global annual emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases. Yara International, one of the world’s biggest fertilizer makers, has joined forces with its subsidiary Yara Clean Ammonia and Norway’s North Sea Container Line to work on the ship, which will transport goods between Norway and Germany. However, Yara Clean Ammonia plans to provide a mix of “blue” and “green” ammonia for the Yara Eyde. In “blue” ammonia production, CO2 emissions are captured at the source and stored underground, while “green” ammonia is made using renewable electricity. In August last year, the company said it would launch the first carbon-neutral vessel by the first quarter of 2024.

Chirag Bahri worked as an engineer on merchant vessels during a nearly decade-long career at sea. In 2010, his chemical tanker was held hostage by pirates for eight months. I had just joined the crew and I really needed to be on the ship to earn money. I was in the engine room when I got the call that pirates had boarded the ship. I still cherish the time I spent working onboard ships and I would encourage people to look at seafaring as a very positive, rewarding profession.

By Hyunsu YimSEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea will try this month to launch a spy satellite, a Seoul-based think tank said, the third attempt after two previous launches failed soon after liftoff. The previous two launches came soon after the G7 summit and the trilateral summit between the U.S., Japan and South Korea, respectively, KINU noted. In both cases, North Korea notified international maritime authorities of a window during which they expected to launch the rocket. North Korea's rocket programs are banned by United Nations Security Council resolutions that prohibit its use of ballistic missile technology. Russia and North Korea have not elaborated on what their future space cooperation might entail, but analysts say such efforts risk violating the resolutions and sanctions.
