London CNN —British Airways was hit with a technical failure for a few hours on Monday, which appeared to have caused some delays and disruption to its flights across Europe. After reports emerged on social media of flight delays, and the flag carrier’s website was down for more than an hour, a British Airways spokesperson said the airline experienced a “technical issue affecting some of our systems” that led to delays. Heathrow Airport, which is the airline’s main base in London, also said the technical issue affecting British Airways had been fixed and it was working to help the impacted British Airways passengers. “The technical issue impacting British Airways has now been resolved. A London Gatwick Airport spokesperson said British Airways “had a short term issue” but no disruption was caused.

An American Airlines flight departing Hawaii was hastily ordered to make an “expedited climb” to avoid crashing into mountainous terrain on Wednesday. Flight 298 had departed Honolulu, headed for Los Angeles International Airport, when an air traffic controller from Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport ordered the flight to “turn right and expedite your climb through terrain and then turn right,” according to broadcast audio from website LiveATC. That order was made around 1 a.m. local time Wednesday. The Federal Aviation Administration said that an air traffic controller instructed the flight to “perform an expedited climb after the crew did not make the assigned turn while departing from Honolulu International Airport.”The FAA, which is investigating the incident, said the controller's actions “ensured the aircraft remained safely above nearby terrain.”American Airlines said: “During the climb out of Honolulu on November 13, the crew of American Airlines flight 298 requested and received right-turn clearance and complied with controller instructions.”“There was no Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) alert as there were no issues with terrain clearance based on the trajectory of the aircraft,” the airline noted.

CNN —Travelers aboard a Southwest Airlines flight preparing to leave Denver Friday had to evacuate after a passenger’s cell phone battery caught on fire and caused an airplane seat to catch fire as well. The Boeing 737-700 was still parked at a gate with 108 passengers on board when the incident occurred at Denver International Airport, according to Southwest. Crew members were able to extinguish the seat fire, the statement said. “Southwest’s customer care team is working to accommodate the passengers on another aircraft to their original destination of Houston,” an airline spokesperson said. The officers and vigilantes then took the three wounded patients outside the hospital grounds and at least two of them were killed, MSF said. The third patient was not killed, Garnier said. The judge granted the City of San Francisco’s motion for a preliminary injunction with respect to the Port of Oakland while the legal battle plays out. CNN —A Spirit Airlines plane was hit by gunfire Monday over Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince, according to diplomatic source in the country, resulting in what the airline described as “minor injuries” to one of its crew members. It added that the aircraft has been taken out of service, and Spirit services to Port-au-Prince and Cap-Haitien have been suspended. Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s main international airport, has since paused operations following the incident, the diplomatic source told CNN. US-based carriers JetBlue and American Airlines have also cancelled flights to and from Haiti until Thursday. Conille’s predecessor Ariel Henry stepped down earlier this year amid spiraling gang violence.

Businessman Alix Didier Fils-Aimé was formally sworn in as Haiti’s new prime minister on Monday at a ceremony attended by various government officials in Port-au-Prince.
