The Indiana man charged in the 2017 killing of two middle school girls was convicted of murder Monday, NBC affiliate WTHR of Indianapolis reports. The jury’s decision came after a four-week trial in which Richard Allen, 52, pleaded not guilty to murder charges in the Feb. 13, 2017 slayings of close friends Abigail Williams, 13, and Liberty German, 14. “Richard Allen is the ‘bridge guy.’ He kidnapped them and later murdered them. CNN —Richard Allen has been found guilty of two counts of murder and two counts of felony murder in the highly publicized Delphi murder trial, according to CNN affiliate WTHR. Delphi law enforcement have long held they believe the “Bridge Guy” shown in the video is the main suspect in the case. Prosecutors drew attention to the .40-caliber unspent round found by the girls’ bodies, which a prosecution expert testified matched Allen’s pistol. The prosecution has also tried to match Allen with the video and audio recording of the “Bridge Guy” captured on Libby’s cellphone. “Richard Allen is ‘Bridge Guy,’” McLeland told jurors.

Google Trends showed that searches related to "leaving the country" and "how to move to …" spiked following the news that Donald Trump would be returning to the White House. He has pleaded not guilty to four charges, including two counts of murder and two counts of felony murder, court records show. FBIOn Tuesday, a cell phone forensic expert testified that data from Libby’s cell phone shows someone inserted a headphones cord into the phone on the night the girls went missing and then removed it five hours later, according to WTHR. Over the years, authorities released sketches and portions of a video recorded on Libby’s cell phone in hopes of finding a suspect.

S&P 500 futures ticked up 0.1% and Nasdaq 100 futures were flat. Goldman Sachs predicts that a Trump win and Republican sweep of Congress would spark a 3% pop in the S&P 500. Even a Trump win and a divided Congress would cause about a 1.5% gain, the bank predicts. On the other hand, a Harris win with a divided Congress would cause a 1.5% drop in the S&P 500, the bank told its clients. The stock market staged a broad rally Tuesday before the election results were in with the S&P 500 gaining 1.2%, bringing the benchmark's 2024 gains to more than 21%.

Prosecutors say Allen actually confessed over 60 times to the murders while in prison, to his wife, his mother, family members, the prison warden, the psychologist who treated him in prison, other prison employees and other inmates. The jury on Thursday heard recordings of seven prison phone calls Allen made to his wife and mother, according to WTHR. Monica Wala, the prison psychologist who treated Allen at Westville Correctional Facility, testified for the prosecution that he confessed to the crimes multiple times, once in great detail, according to WTHR. He also spoke about wanting to go back and change his actions and apologize to the families, Wala testified. He had a serious mental health history and had experienced both major depressive disorder and anxiety disorder, Wala testified during cross-examination.
