UK's IG Group says it expects to cut 10% of workforce
  + stars: | 2023-10-31 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +2 min
Oct 31 (Reuters) - British online trading platform IG Group (IGG.L) on Tuesday said it would cut 10% of its headcount as part of cost-saving measures to drive operating margin expansion and become a leaner fintech firm. IG Group is trying to bolster its margins as the number of active clients on its platforms declines because of tough market conditions and a hit to customers' disposable income due to a cost-of-living squeeze and rising borrowing costs. IG Group said it expected to reduce about 300 positions worldwide by the end of fiscal 2023, adding that the overall efficiency measures are expected to deliver full run rate cost savings of 50 million pounds ($60.7 million) per year. "We want to position IG Group as a lean fintech company and today's decisive actions ensure a strong platform for future growth," acting CEO Charlie Rozes said in a statement. The company said non-recurring costs to achieve the savings are expected to be about 18 million pounds split across fiscal years 2024 and 2025.

I've been in this industry for two decades and still see people make the same mistakes at the bar. After all, you don't know the person's situation and it's always good to err on the side of caution. Do: Tip at least 18% for good serviceWhen I'm at a bar, I'll tip at least 18%. Before you leave, take a moment to let someone who works at the bar know about your experience. You never know if someone has entered the bar already drunk — serving just one drink might push them over the edge.

MARKET REACTION:- Oil prices surged, with Brent crude trading at $87.25 a barrel - up over 3% on the day. COMMENTS:MOHIT KUMAR, CHIEF EUROPE ECONOMIST, JEFFERIES, LONDON:“The coming days are likely to be driven by geopolitical risks, rather than fundamentals. “Second, OPEC countries do have spare capacity that they restrict willingly to maintain oil price at above $80 (per barrel), but they don’t necessarily think of tripling oil prices – which would only accelerate the energy transition. “This being said, potential retaliation against Tehran is a serious upside risk for oil prices. Evergrande stock crashes again as fears of collapse grow
  + stars: | 2023-09-27 | by ( Laura He | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +3 min
Hong Kong CNN —Shares of Evergrande Group crashed again on Wednesday as fears grew of a potential liquidation of the company, the poster child of China’s property crisis. Evergrande’s woes deepened this week, after it warned that its offshore debt restructuring plan may be in trouble because of a regulatory probe into its main subsidiary in mainland China. That was thanks to a rise in revenue because of a “short boom” in China’s property market earlier this year, the company said then. Evergrande has been trying to implement a government-supervised restructuring of its debts, which stood at $328 billion at the end of June. Evergrande was forced to cancel meetings with creditors scheduled for this week, in part because recent sales have been weaker than it expected.

It was pretty much the only way to watch “Gunsmoke” or “Howdy Doody” until cable networks arrived in force in the 1980s, bundled together for a monthly subscription fee. For Disney, ABC represented a watershed moment. Look deeper and the big broadcasters attracted only one in five viewers, while one in three watched cable networks. The TV group, excluding cable networks such as Fox News, generated an EBITDA margin of nearly 12% for the year ending June 30. REUTERS/Neil Hall/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsSept 14 (Reuters) - British online trading platform IG Group (IGG.L) on Thursday reported a marginal rise in its first-quarter revenue after a big boost from net interest income and strong U.S. trading helped offset a fall in the number of active clients. In U.S.-China AI contest, the race is on to deploy killer robots
