But a recession brings other threats too, like the potential for major stock market swings that can derail financial goals. As soon as the line begins to tick upward again, the economy exits a recession and enters an expansion. Are we in a recession or is a recession coming? How to preparePreparing your finances for a recession isn’t all that different from practicing good money habits in your daily life. You’ll likely have to make some real-time adjustments to meet short-term goals while enduring a recession, McCoy says.

So I was skeptical I’d find a do-it-all carryall—until the Cambelbak’s Pivot Tote Pack restored my faith. It feels like I’d spent my entire adult lifetime seeking out the perfect tote, and now the Pivot has at last replaced them all. As a native Midwesterner, I once kept an entire day’s worth of stuff in my car, swapping out shoes and outfits as the hours ticked along. Now car-free in New York, I leave home carrying an entire day with me in a large bag. The Pivot Tote and I have covered enough miles together—sometimes 20,000 steps in a day—that it has far outlasted my previous commuting companions.

Black residents of the Hogg Hummock community on Sapelo Island sat mostly silent as McIntosh County commissioners scheduled a Tuesday vote on the proposal. “This plan will be be a giant step in the destruction of the culture of Hogg Hummock,” said Commissioner Roger Lotson, whose district includes Sapelo Island. In 2012, dozens of Hogg Hummock residents and landowners appealed tax increases caused by soaring property values. The current county ordinance limits homes in Hogg Hummock to 1,400 square feet (130 square meters) of heated and air-conditioned space. Experts say the path to healthy relationships for people with NPD or narcissistic personality traits is not impossible, but it's also not easy or affordable. Especially because many insurance plans might not cover specific mental health treatments. But for someone with more demanding mental health problems, the out-of-pocket cost can make treatment prohibitive. "There is a severe shortage of mental health therapists and many don't take insurance, as insurance companies pay very little for mental health therapy," she says. Are you in possession of a hammock? A bay window with built-in seating? If not, Ann Patchett’s new novel, “Tom Lake,” will situate you there mentally. I wouldn’t be surprised if it put your fitness tracker on the fritz, even if you amble around listening to Meryl Streep read the audio version. ‘Ted Lasso’ Finale Recap: Family
  + stars: | 2023-05-31 | by ( Christopher Orr | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +1 min
There are TV finales that go out with a shock or on a sad note or with a healthy dose of ambivalence. But that was not how “Ted Lasso” was ever going to end. Were you one of those who fell for the Rebecca–Ted fake out at the breakfast island that opened the episode? By which I mean, one of the (sane) viewers who was horrified at such a terrible idea or one of the (I’m sure very nice, though highly misguided) viewers who felt vindicated? It was a sneaky move, but with time running out I’m not sure how else we were ever going to see Beard in a banana hammock.

Instead he scrambled out of a porthole and found himself face-to-face with the North Vietnamese. A day that Wallingford recalled as clearly as if it were yesterday, as he recounted it to CNN at a recent reunion for surviving Vietnam War POWs in California. As a longtime veteran of combat in Vietnam, Smith also had battlefield wisdom to impart to his brothers in arms. But what can’t be disputed is that soon after those bombings took place, early in 1973, North Vietnam did finally agree to a peace deal. “He had the stones to go to Hanoi and bomb them for (12) days, which ended the war,” Wallingford said.
