NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A member of the chain crew at a game between Detroit and New Orleans was taken to a hospital with a dislocated knee that occurred when Saints running back Alvin Kamara was tackled into him. The game was delayed in the first half so physicians from both teams could treat Piazza as he lay on the turf along the Detroit sideline. This was the first time since 2010 that a member of the chain crew was taken from a Saints game at the Superdome. That season, Saints receiver Courtney Roby collided hard with chain crew member Al Nastasi Jr. while Roby was serving as the gunner on punt coverage during a game against the Cleveland Browns. He ultimately recovered and returned to work with the chain crew.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said this week that Kyiv would retake the city following the capture last week of Andriivka and Klishchiivka to the south. But it won't be easy because Russia will still fight hard for it, demonstrated by the ferocity of the combat his unit had just endured in the outlying villages. One shouldn't think that the counter-offensive and taking Bakhmut is easy: (that) we just flank them, close reinforcements routes and it is done. HEAVY FIREUkrainian soldiers who spoke to Reuters at a location about 20 km (12 miles) from Andriivka described a bloody slog, costing lives for every metre, before they ultimately vanquished the village's Russian defenders. Russian media has reported that the new T-14 tank has seen combat in Ukraine. But Ukraine's military intel chief says Ukrainian forces haven't seen any T-14s in action. It's possible the T-14 has been used, but the war has tarnished the reputation of Russian tanks. "We haven't seen a single instance of this machine being used," Lt. Gen. Kyrylo Budanov, chief of Ukrainian defense intelligence, said in response to a question about the T-14 during a recent conference in Kyiv. Not only is the T-14 expensive, but Russian defense industry publications have reported development and manufacturing problems with it.

Ukrainian soldiers have relied on US-made Bradley fighting vehicles to stay alive in combat. In a recent interview, one soldier said the Bradleys are "priceless" during nighttime assaults. Ukrainian soldiers and mechanics work on a Bradley at a secret workshop in the Zaporizhzhia region on July 13. But despite the heavy praise by Ukrainian soldiers, Bradleys are not indestructible and they have still fallen victim to Russia's formidable defenses and relentless artillery in the months since. Open-source intelligence collected by the site Oryx shows that 53 of the Washington-provided vehicles have been destroyed, damaged, or abandoned during fighting.

Videos of an apparent artillery ambush have emerged and show Russian forces taking heavy hits. A retired US Army general said Russians were making "opening day mistakes" 18 months into the war. Russian forces have made similar mistakes repeatedly in the war in Ukraine. Ukrainian forces, of course, are not infallible, and mistakes have jeopardized operations, including the opening phase of the ongoing counteroffensive, according to experts who visited areas near the front. They also moved the wrong way, and sometimes they ran into deadly minefields covered by defending Russian forces — traps not entirely unlike the ambush seen in the recent videos.

US-provided Bradleys keep Ukrainian troops alive, but still get knocked out by Russian defenses. Kyiv's troops have seen the benefits of the Bradley fighting vehicles, including agile maneuverability, fire power, and strong armor. Bradley infantry fighting vehicles are operated by a three-person crew — a driver, commander, and gunner. Supply lines for parts or replacement vehicles can also impact how many Bradleys Ukraine is able to use at a given time. While some were killed as they attempted to flee, others escaped in a MaxxPro armored fighting vehicle, despite being under heavy fire. But it is facing formidable obstacles, including Russia's complex defense systems in southeastern Ukraine, comprised of razor wire, anti-tank obstacles, and deadly minefields, Insider recently reported. If DeSantis can't bring a resolution to the Disney fight, can he handle the job of president?
