New York CNN —In between his posts on Truth Social announcing nominees for his incoming administration, President-elect Donald Trump urged Republicans Wednesday to nix a bipartisan bill that would give journalists greater protections under federal law. Trump wrote on his favorite social network that “REPUBLICANS MUST KILL THIS BILL!”He linked to a PBS “NewsHour” interview with Jodie Ginsberg, the CEO of the Committee to Protect Journalists, who urged the Senate to pass the legislation. Known as the PRESS Act, the Protect Reporters From Exploitative State Spying Act would prevent the government from forcing journalists to reveal their sources and limit the seizure of their data without their knowledge. “It’s really important that we have that federal shield law to protect journalists at the federal level,” Ginsberg said on PBS. “Many Trump supporters from Rep. Jim Jordan to Sen. Mike Lee are champions of the PRESS Act because it would protect all journalists, including many who reach primarily conservative audiences.

Of course, these basic rules of political decorum are ones Donald Trump has rarely followed. He’s been accumulating political capital, and his victory only gives him an opening to accumulate more ... if he chooses to. On some level, I accept the notion that one person’s revenge is another person’s “reform,” so I’m sure Trump could argue he’s appointing reformists. Nearly 40% of cardholders in the U.S. have maxed out a credit card or come close to doing so, according to Bankrate's October credit utilization survey. "Nothing good comes out of running up large balances on credit cards," says John Ulzheimer, a credit expert with over 20 years experience who formerly worked for FICO and Experian. It accounts for 30% of how your FICO credit score is calculated and is an "extremely influential" factor used to generate your VantageScore credit score. Maxing out your credit card can throw off your credit utilization ratio, thus harming your overall score. Why it's worth keeping your credit utilization lowThe credit scoring agencies didn't arbitrarily decide to make your credit utilization ratio an important part of your score, Ulzheimer says.
