The subscription offers unlimited travel throughout Frontier's network, but only if a seat is available. Frontier Airlines' new "all-you-can-fly" GoWild Pass has officially taken off. In June, Wall Street Journal Reporter Dawn Gilbertson used the Colorado-based carrier's new flight subscription, which markets unlimited travel to anywhere in Frontier's network. Moreover, there are several caveats to "unlimited" travel. However, she also realized "unlimited" travel can actually be very limiting.

Job gains remain robust, wage growth is still going strong, and unemployment continues to hover near historic lows. That means the job market is still fueling demand in the economy, which the Fed has been trying to slow through rate hikes. Assessing the labor marketThe Fed wants to see the labor market slow down broadly, bringing it into “better balance,” as Powell has frequently described it. And there has been some progress on bringing the job market back into better balance while inflation has come down. “The focus is on the path of wage inflation because of its pass-through to services inflation,” said Sonia Meskin, head of US Macro at BNY Mellon IM.

But for every recession alarm bell, the continued strength in the labor market seems to be an answer to those worries. “I think even in a recession environment, we’re going to have a relatively strong job market. “It’s still possible that the case of avoiding a recession is, in my view, more likely than that of having a recession. Jobs market still hot, but coolingThat’s not to say that the jobs market hasn’t slowed down. Powell said he’s not particularly worried about the cooling of the labor market over the last year.

Washington, DC CNN —The US labor market picked up momentum in May, once again defying expectations of a slowdown. Many economists, including those at the Fed, still expect a recession later in the year. The labor market and signs of future disinflationThe May jobs report mostly showed that the labor market held up. Some top economists have argued that the strong labor market has had a minor, albeit growing, impact on inflation. Hawkish Fed officials still think the Fed’s job isn’t done.

How Close Is Too Close for a Flight Connection?

Another record summer travel season looms, and with it the ultimate airport endurance test: sprinting to the gate for your connecting flight. Stefanie Plumley, a high-school theater teacher in Claremont, Calif., isn’t flying to Europe until mid-June. She’s already sweating her 90-minute layover at London Heathrow. She says she worked herself into a tizzy asking other travelers if that was enough time. The conflicting answers left her shrugging her shoulders.
FORT WORTH, Texas—I was thrilled with the free breakfast and spacious room at my $161-a-night SpringHill Suites near Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport last week. Until I saw the new airport hotel across the highway. The 600-room Skyview 6, which opened in late January, has a tavern with an airy patio, supersize gym, lap pool, free cruiser bikes, sushi to go and bathroom mirrors with Bluetooth connections.

Illustration: Dan PageSome travelers splurge on a Louis Vuitton handbag during a Paris vacation. My souvenir was decidedly less sexy: a $400 penalty for boneheadedness. I shelled out that money at Paris Orly Airport after I made an embarrassing but common mistake. I booked the wrong date for a nonrefundable flight to Portugal and didn’t find out until I tried to check in with TAP Air Portugal at the airport.
I flew to Paris last week from an out-of-the-way New York airport on an airline you probably haven’t heard of with Spirit -like fees, no seat-back screens and a predawn connection in Iceland. And I’d do it again to save money.

[1/2] A "now hiring" sign is displayed outside Taylor Party and Equipment Rentals in Somerville, Massachusetts, U.S., September 1, 2022. Economists polled by Reuters expect a gain of 239,000 jobs in March, with hourly wages rising at a 4.3% annual rate and the unemployment rate remaining at 3.6%, a level seen less than 20% of the time since World War Two. Unemployment is still at a very low level," Boston Fed President Susan Collins said in an interview with Reuters last week. How "slack" in the labor market links to lower inflation may depend on where job growth slows, and over what timeline. "The services sector, in particular, has contributed substantially to recent inflation, reflecting ongoing imbalances in labor markets where supply remains impaired and demand remains robust," they wrote.

Danielle Thomas dashed off one last Facebook post from Las Vegas on the way to check out of her hotel last week. It wasn’t like her others. Instead of nightclubs and a desert ATV tour, she featured a pile of Doritos, Cheetos, orange juice, coffee creamer and water bottles stashed next to a vending machine on the 16th floor at the Horseshoe Las Vegas hotel. They were leftovers from a Walmart delivery to her room at the start of her trip.

Booking a business trip today isn’t as simple as clicking “Buy” on your go-to airline and heading for the airport lounge. With ticket prices in the stratosphere and concern about the economy high, cost-conscious road warriors are cheating on their favorite airline, loyalty status be damned. Others are flying to alternative airports and renting a car, booking undesirable flights or driving to their destination. Companies are encouraging travelers to cram more meetings into a single trip to get more bang for their buck, or adding more parameters to their travel policies.
How to Fight (and Win) When Airlines Change Your Flight

Anyone who flies regularly dreads that email from airlines: The flight you booked isn’t the one you will be taking. Dynie Sanderson got one from Air Canada last week. Her October flight from London to Nairobi via Cairo on a partner airline was changed to include a second stop. The five-hour layover in Ethiopia would make her miss the start of a safari.
