A man has been arrested in connection with the assassination of the head of Russia's chemical, radiological and biological weapons unit, Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov, authorities in the country said Wednesday. "During the interrogation, he explained that he was recruited by the Ukrainian special services," Svetlana Petrenko, a spokesperson for Russia's Investigative Committee said in a statement. He placed it on an electric scooter, which he parked at the entrance to the residential building where Igor Kirillov lived,” she added. The suspect rented a car and “installed a video surveillance camera,” so he could broadcast the footage online, Petrenko said, adding that he was from Uzbekistan and in his twenties. The suspect was guaranteed $100,000 and European residence as payment, she said.

New York CNN —KFC’s “finger lickin’ good” slogan usually refers to chicken, but it’s taking on different meaning at its newest location. The restaurant, which ditches the chain’s familiar red for pink, is centered around 11 new dips and chicken tenders — both favorites of Gen-Z eaters who crave adventurous flavors and boneless chicken. The launch of Saucy comes amid challenging times for the Yum Brands-owned chain, which has posted several consecutive quarters of declines for its US restaurants. A survey of restaurants menus from Technomic Ignite, a food consulting firm, shows that the availability of chicken tenders has grown more than 5% over the past five years. As a nod to KFC’s 11 spices and herbs in its fried chicken, Saucy is debuting with the same number of sauces served in flights of four.

CNN —A 29-year-old Uzbek citizen has been detained for allegedly planting the bomb that killed senior Russian general and his assistant, the Russian Investigative Committee said Wednesday. The blast came a day after Ukrainian prosecutors sentenced Kirillov in absentia for Russia’s use of banned chemical weapons during its invasion. A source with knowledge of the operation later told CNN that Ukraine’s security service, the SBU, was behind the attack. The Uzbek suspect was allegedly recruited by Ukraine’s special services and arrived in Moscow under their instruction, the committee said on its official Telegram channel. To monitor Kirillov’s residence, the suspect rented a car and equipped it with a surveillance camera, the committee added.

Investigators work at the site where Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov, the head of Russia's radiological, biological and chemical protections forces, was killed by an explosive device in Moscow on Tuesday. An exploding scooter taking out a senior general is certainly not a good look for Russia’s beefed-up internal security apparatus. Assassinations of key military figures on Russian soil, either directly or indirectly linked to Ukraine, have been a feature of this war. And less than a week ago, the deputy chief designer of Russia’s Mars Design Bureau was shot in a Moscow park. CNN’s Ukrainian security source confirmed Kyiv was behind his killing, saying he was responsible for upgrading some of the cruise missiles fired at Ukraine.

New York CNN —Taco Bell is veering away – slightly – from its Mexican-inspired cuisine, going all-American for its newest offering. Beginning Thursday, the chain is adding chicken nuggets to its menu for a limited time. But it’s part of Taco Bell’s plan to expand its poultry portfolio as younger eaters largely prefer it over red meat. Prices vary depending on the city, with Taco Bell suggesting a retail price of $3.99 for five nuggets with one sauce and $6.99 for 10 nuggets with two sauces. The last time Taco Bell served anything closely resembling chicken nuggets was in 2017, when the “Naked Chicken Chips” was also a limited time offering.
