Microsoft has a very expensive and very public relationship with artificial intelligence startup OpenAI. But one of Microsoft's most successful AI products, GitHub Copilot, is now going beyond OpenAI to give developers more choice in what models they want to use. Microsoft introduced GitHub Copilot in 2021, offering source code suggestions to software developers. Copilot relies on models from OpenAI, which has received billions of dollars in funding from Microsoft and has exploded in popularity since releasing ChatGPT in late 2022. At that point, it felt like "the right time" to add models from Anthropic and Google , Dohmke said.

Cramer says to not trade big winners ahead of earnings

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Monday discouraged investors from making any moves in high-value stocks ahead of earnings reports, especially in Big Tech — which will be viewed with intense scrutiny. "No one on Wall Street knows what any of the quarters will look like, except for the principals," he said. For example, he described why it's difficult to trade Alphabet based on earnings, saying that often some data in the Google parent's quarter fails to impress Wall Street. And according to Cramer, many on Wall Street will carefully examine each tech giant's spending on data centers and Nvidia products. "I am indeed trying to discourage you from trading these stocks ahead of the quarters.

Google and Reddit also announced a deal in February that allows Google to train its AI models using Reddit comments. Huffman said at the conference that it still feels like Reddit is "married to Google" but that "more and more people learn that Reddit has just pretty much everything that you're looking for."

New York CNN —The federal government’s bet on using artificial intelligence to fight financial crime appears to be paying off. The Treasury Department credited AI with helping officials prevent and recover more than $4 billion worth of fraud overall in fiscal 2024, a six-fold spike from the year before. US officials quietly started using AI to detect financial crime in late 2022, taking a page out of what many banks and credit card companies already do to stop bad guys. The Treasury’s use of AI to fight financial crime is just getting started. Officials are testing new data sources to better spot fraud and shady payments, and they are teaming up with state agencies to fight unemployment insurance fraud.
