CNN —Aaron Rodgers’ arrival in the MetLife Stadium on Monday night signaled that change and hope were on the way for the New York Jets, but it turns out that this season’s long-awaited new era has suffered a significant setback. However, just four snaps into Rodgers’ New York career, disaster struck. Gang Green forced four turnovers from Bills quarterback Josh Allen – a fumble to go along with three interceptions by Jordan Whitehead. Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (17) celebrates with teammates after catching a pass for a touchdown during the fourth quarter. Wilson throws a pass under pressure from the Bills' pass rush.

Aaron Rodgers has a torn left Achilles tendon, according to a person familiar with the diagnosis, and the quarterback likely will miss the rest of the New York Jets' season. NFL Network first reported Rodgers tore the Achilles tendon, confirming the Jets’ fears. “Concerned with his Achilles,” Saleh said after the Jets’ 22-16 overtime win over Buffalo on Monday night. The situation evoked eerily similar memories of 1999, when Vinny Testaverde — who, coincidentally, was the Jets’ honorary captain Monday night — ruptured his Achilles tendon early in New York’s season opener against New England. Like this year’s squad, those Jets had Super Bowl aspirations after going to the AFC championship game the previous season.

While the Jets concluded their night with coach Robert Saleh joining a celebratory mob in the end zone, the injury to Rodgers cast a pall over their season. Saleh said after the game that the injury was to Rodgers' Achilles tendon and that the 39-year-old quarterback would have an MRI on Tuesday. A night that began with optimism for the Jets turned disappointing before the game was even four minutes old. Rodgers injured his left ankle when he was sacked by Buffalo’s Leonard Floyd and fell awkwardly on the leg. NFL Network reported Rodgers’ left foot was in a black walking boot as he was carted to the X-ray room.

April 25 (Reuters) - The New York Jets are excited to welcome four-time National Football League (NFL) most valuable player Aaron Rodgers after agreeing a deal with the Green Bay Packers that includes a swap of key draft picks, General Manager Joe Douglas said on Tuesday. Under the agreement for 39-year-old Rodgers, Green Bay will trade their 2023 first-round draft pick (15th overall) and their fifth-round pick for the Jets' first-round pick (13th overall), second-round and sixth-round picks, according to ESPN. "Obviously, we're comfortable with how this deal shaped," Douglas told a news conference. "I don't think anyone ever walks away from a negotiation where you feel like you won everything in terms of what's gone back and forth. The deal will also see Rodgers reunite with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, with whom he was paired in Green Bay when he won back-to-back MVP awards in 2020 and 2021.
