Bryan Kohberger, the man accused in the murders of four University of Idaho students, was transported by plane Sunday morning from the Idaho county where he was being jailed to another county where his trial will be held. Latah County District Judge John Judge had ruled in favor of lawyers for Kohberger, 29, who argued a trial in Latah County would be unfair because of the intense pretrial publicity creating a "mob mentality" against the defendant. "While the issue of extensive, sensationalized coverage is not unique to Latah County," Judge added, "it is potentially more impactful given the volume of coverage coupled with the smaller population." Despite the change, Latah County prosecutors and Kohberger's public defenders are expected to remain through the trial. As it stands, the gag order bars Trump from publicly discussing the prosecutors, court staff and their families. In the decision filed Thursday, a panel of judges from the Appellate Division First Department said Judge Juan Merchan can keep the gag order in place through Trump’s sentencing. “Contrary to petitioner’s contentions, the People’s evidentiary submissions in opposition to his motion in Supreme Court demonstrate that threats received by District Attorney staff after the jury verdict continued to pose a significant and imminent threat,” the appeals court ruled. CNN —New York’s attorney general urged the Supreme Court on Wednesday to stay out of Donald Trump’s hush money criminal case, arguing the nation’s highest court should not grant a novel request by Missouri to pause his sentencing hearing and lift the gag order imposed on the former president in the case. Earlier this month, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey, a Republican, asked the Supreme Court for permission to file a complaint against New York to pause Trump’s September sentencing hearing and lift the restrictions on his speech – arguing in part that New York was infringing on the right of Missouri voters to hear from presidential candidates. “Allowing Missouri to file this suit for such relief against New York would permit an extraordinary and dangerous end-run around former President Trump’s ongoing state court proceedings and the statutory limitations on this Court’s jurisdiction to review state court decisions,” she wrote. For now, a limited gag order barring Trump from publicly speaking about prosecutors, court staff and their families remains in place at least until Trump is sentenced. London CNN —“We mostly know classical, but we could give it a shot,” the conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra tells hip-hop group Cypress Hill when discussing a potential collaboration in a 1996 episode of “The Simpsons” titled “Homerpalooza.”Now, 28 years later, the two acclaimed ensembles are making it happen, performing together in real life at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Wednesday night. B Real, a member of the pioneering group, posted to X: “Tonight we are rocking with the @londonsymphony at @RoyalAlbertHall.. “Fortunately as fate would have it, we will fulfill this objective tonight. Love to everyone coming thru for this experience.”According to the event’s description on the Royal Albert Hall website, the two groups will perform a “special rendition” of Cypress Hill’s four-times platinum album “Black Sunday,” as well as other hits from its catalogue. Tickets for the show have sold out, with seats costing £128.50 ($165) per person.
