Nov 17 (Reuters) - The Uvalde school board in Texas has approved plans to replace Robb Elementary School months after the town decided to demolish the building where a teenaged gunman killed 19 children and two teachers in May. The school district did not immediately respond to a request for further details. Board members also agreed to install an interim leader of the school district's police department. In the past, he worked with Patterson at another Texas school district. Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steven McCraw said the response was "an abject failure," adding that officers at the scene lacked sufficient training.

ATLANTA, Nov 1 (Reuters) - Takeoff, a member of the rap group Migos, was fatally shot at a party held at a Houston bowling alley early on Tuesday, according to media reports. Two other people were wounded, but Houston police were holding back the names of the victims until the next of kin are notified, police spokesman John Cannon said. Rolling Stone's website and TMZ said Takeoff, 28, the rapper whose real name is Kirshnik Khari Ball, was killed. A second member of Migos - Quavo, 31, whose real name is Quavious Keyate Marshall - was also at the party but not hurt, Rolling Stone reported. A third member - Takeoff's cousin Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus - was not there.

DENVER, Oct 31 (Reuters) - A former two-time candidate for governor of Idaho was convicted on Monday of the abduction and murder of a 12-year-old Colorado girl who vanished from her home in 1984 after singing at a Christmas recital. Steven Pankey, 71, was found guilty in Weld County District Court for the first-degree murder and kidnapping of Jonelle Matthews, who disappeared from her home in Greeley, Colorado, about 50 miles (80.47 km) north of Denver. The conviction came in Pankey's second trial for the girl’s murder. Pankey unsuccessfully ran for Idaho governor on the Constitution Party ticket in 2014, and lost a second gubernatorial bid in the 2018 Republican primaries.
