CNN —Critics on Tuesday seized on the latest Trump tape as a perfect example of why the twice-impeached, twice-indicted former president is unfit to return to the Oval Office. On the audio – exclusively obtained by CNN – Trump discusses holding a secret document. In the tape, Trump seems to indicate he was holding up information that may be among the government’s most closely guarded secrets. As he often did in office, Trump appears to have been using US national security as a tool for his own personal or political gain. In response to the tape, Trump – as he often does – sought to redefine an apparent example of aberrant behavior as perfectly acceptable.

With Mr. Durham’s investigation now officially finished, no court cases or indictments will advance such claims. But the Republican interpretation of the final Durham report will feed a narrative of “Deep State” corruption that is fueling not only Mr. Trump’s quest for the White House in 2024 but that of many of his rivals for the Republican nomination. Regardless of Mr. Durham’s actual conclusions, his report appears to serve that theme. On his Truth Social website, Mr. Trump said the special prosecutor had concluded that “the FBI should never have launched the Trump-Russia Probe!” In fact, Mr. Durham said he agreed that the F.B.I. “I, and much more importantly, the American public have been victims of this long-running and treasonous charade started by the Democrats — started by Comey,” Mr. Trump told Fox News Digital.

Melania Trump on Tuesday said she stood behind her husband's 2024 presidential campaign. The ex-first lady told Fox News Digital that former President Trump had her "support" in his race. Abbott’s pardon announcement came after he was goaded to do so by figures on the right – from Fox News host Tucker Carlson to the chairman of the Texas Republican Party to Kyle Rittenhouse. There are conflicting accounts as to whether Foster pointed his weapon at Perry or Perry made the first move. They are rioting outside my apartment complex.” Defense attorneys said that Foster had threatened Perry by pointing his gun at Perry. Then Carlson and others on the right began to pressure Abbott to issue a pardon, because they didn’t agree with the verdict. On his Fox News show on Friday night, Carlson called on Abbott to pardon Perry, arguing that the defendant had acted in self-defense – despite the jury rejecting that argument.

REUTERS/Jonathan ErnstMarch 17 (Reuters) - Former U.S. President Donald Trump posted to Facebook on Friday, marking his return to the social media platform two years after he was banned. Facebook and Instagram are key vehicles for reaching voters and fundraising and could give a boost to Trump, who will make another run for the presidency in 2024. Trump had 23 million followers on Instagram and 34 million on Facebook as of Feb. 9. Trump founded his own social media platform called Truth Social in late 2021, which he relied on to communicate with supporters during his ban from Twitter and Meta. In a blog post, Meta said it updated its protocols on moderating public figures during times of civil unrest.
The Biden administration has briefed key former Trump administration officials on China's spy balloons. "It never happened with us under the Trump administration and if it did, we would have shot it down immediately," he said on Sunday. He referenced "recent balloon/"object" incidents," but nothing from the Trump administration. During a February 6 briefing, Kirby told reporters that the Chinese surveillance balloons transited US airspace "for brief periods of time" during the Trump administration. Biden officials reached out to key officials from the Trump administration to offer briefings on the forensics they did.

ABC's Jonathan Karl called out Sen. Marco Rubio during a tense exchange about the Chinese spy balloon. In response, Karl said former President Donald Trump did not disclose three different sightings of Chinese balloons during his term. "And we're also told, by the way, that this happened three times under the previous president," Karl said. The Chinese balloon in question was shot down by the Air Force over the Atlantic Ocean on Saturday. Trump has also been ranting about the Chinese balloon on his Truth Social page.
Chinese spy balloons had crossed into the US at least three times under Trump, officials said. Trump and former defense officials said over the weekend they were not aware of this. The sightings were only discovered "after the prior administration left," senior defense officials told both The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post. "It never happened with us under the Trump administration and if it did, we would have shot it down immediately," Trump told Fox News Digital on Sunday. It's also unclear if balloons spotted during the Trump administration were shot down.

The grandmother was captured on surveillance footage "banging on the glass panes of the French doors located directly adjacent to the nurses' station for help," according to the wrongful death lawsuit seen by Fox News. Staub, who her family described as a "beloved mother and grandmother," was locked outside wearing "only pajamas, a robe, boots, and gloves," the lawsuit said. "Where we found deficiencies, we required the facility to quickly make changes and closely monitored the facility until it completed all corrective actions."
Jan 25 (Reuters) - Meta Platforms Inc (META.O) said Wednesday it will reinstate former U.S. President Donald Trump's Facebook and Instagram accounts in the coming weeks, following a two-year suspension after the deadly Capitol Hill riot on January 6, 2021. He has 34 million followers on Facebook and 23 million on Instagram, platforms that are key vehicles for political outreach and fundraising. "I worry about Facebook's capacity to understand the real world harm that Trump poses: Facebook has been too slow to act." Whether, and how, Trump will seize upon the opportunity to return to Facebook and Instagram is unclear. He did not indicate if or when he would begin posting on Meta platforms again.
Jan 18 (Reuters) - Former U.S. President Donald Trump told Fox News Digital on Wednesday that his campaign was in talks with Meta Platforms (META.O) about a possible return to Facebook and Instagram, two years after the company banned him for inciting violence. "We are talking to them, and we'll see how it all works out," Trump said, according to the report. Meta, the world's biggest social media company, is set to make a controversial decision on the future of Trump's accounts this month. While Trump has shunned Twitter since its decision in November to restore his account, saying he preferred his own Truth Social platform, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung told Fox News Digital on Wednesday that being back on Facebook "will be an important tool for the 2024 campaign to reach voters." The company's independent oversight board ruled later in 2021 that the suspension was justified but objected to its indeterminate nature.
Pete Buttigieg called out Fox News host Brett Baier for applying a double standard to his marriage. "That's quite a spin to put on it," said Buttigieg, who led a presidential delegation in April to the Invictus Games, a sporting competition for wounded veterans. When Baier asked whether Chasten's trip was reimbursed, Buttigieg responded, "Of course not!" The diplomatic protocol on a presidential delegation, he said, has long been that the principal is accompanied by their spouse. Buttigieg, a veteran who served as a Navy intelligence officer in Afghanistan, said leading the presidential delegation was "one of the great honors of my time in this job."
Trump's allies repeatedly rejected Kevin McCarthy as House speaker, displaying his power's limits. A week of House speaker chaos revealed one thing about Donald Trump: He can't get his MAGA house in order. The drama started on Tuesday, and it wasn't until Friday that McCarthy managed to make headway in flipping members' votes. "The president needs to tell Kevin McCarthy that, 'Sir, you do not have the votes, and it's time to withdraw.'" House members who are responding to the MAGA base have no reason to fear Trump on this, he said.
Kellyanne Conway says Melania Trump is the one person Donald Trump fears. "I texted Melania Trump that day, though, for sure," Conway told the panel's investigators. "He reserves — he listens to many of us, but he reserves fear for one person, Melania Trump." Grisham told The Washington Examiner that "MT" was Melania Trump. Conway and representatives for Donald and Melania Trump did not immediately respond to Insider's requests for comment.
Donald Trump said he never asked Ivanka and Jared Kushner to join his 2024 campaign. He said he told them not to be part of it because people would be "too mean and nasty." Recent reports have suggested that the pair are distancing themselves from Trump's politics. "Contrary to Fake News reporting, I never asked Jared or Ivanka to be part of the 2024 Campaign for President," Trump wrote on Truth Social, the social media platform he founded, on Monday. Ivanka did not attend her father's 2024 campaign launch in November, and later told the media that she does not have political ambitions.
