A British Airways flight was delayed for hours after its emergency slide was accidentally inflated. The Sun reported that it was deployed by a flight attendant on her first trip on an Airbus A350. A similar incident affected another British Airways plane at Heathrow in January. A British Airways cabin crew member accidentally activated an emergency slide as the plane was heading for the runway, delaying passengers for hours. It's the second such incident affecting British Airways this year.

Mick Jagger sent his security consultant to help his disable cameras in Rupert Murdoch's ex-wife's house, Vanity Fair reported. The footage from the home in Oxfordshire — which she got in the divorce settlement — was being sent to Murdoch's Fox headquarters, Vanity Fair reported. Hall, who married Murdoch in 2016, had previously been married to Jagger. Representatives for Murdoch, Hall, and Jagger did not immediately respond to Insider's requests for comment. "The Holme," a 205-year-old mansion in Regent's Park in London, is reportedly for sale. The agents handling the sale are reportedly asking for up to 250 million British pounds, about $300 million. If it reaches the reported asking price, the property would become the most expensive ever sold in the United Kingdom. Another massive mansion held the previous UK record — 2-8 Rutland Gate, which overlooks London's Hyde Park was sold in 2020 for £210 million, or $232 million. An 1820s sketch of The Holme in Regent's Park, which is currently for sale for an estimated $300 million.

The Ukrainian military is warning that Putin is planning to mobilize up to half a million new troops. The Ukrainian Military Intelligence Service said that they believe the mobilization will be announced on January 15. "If Russia loses this time around, then Putin will collapse," said Ukraine's deputy military intelligence chief. The new infusion of manpower will massively increase the number of soldiers Russia has deployed in occupied Ukraine. Russia's first mobilization in October of 300,000 soldiers was heavily criticized, with many mobilized soldiers being untrained, elderly, unwell, or too young to fight.
Several Ryanair passengers missed their flight on Monday after they were locked in a corridor. A Ryanair spokesperson said "human error" had led "regrettably" led to the incident. A spokesperson for Ryanair told Insider that a "human error" had led to the passengers being unable to "exit the pre-boarding area doors" and "regrettably" missing the flight. Moscow is still holding a New Year celebration — but it will not include fireworks, its mayor said. In Moscow, Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said the capital would hold a toned-down celebration, forgoing the usual firework show and mass concert. Some Russian activists last week accused him of spending billions on Russia's military while many of them freeze back home, The Daily Beast reported.
