Bank stocks have been in comeback mode since making a key low post the regional bank crisis in 2023. A new breakout could be on the horizon, according to the charts. Two of the most popular bank ETFs are the SPDR S & P Regional Banking ETF (KRE) and the SPDR S & P Bank ETF (KBE) . Both are lagging the S & P 500 in 2024, which is +8.2% YTD. The bottom line is that both KRE and KBE have been forming bullish patterns, and we could see breakout attempts soon.

Goldman Sachs sees opportunities in small-cap stocks — even as the Russell 2000 finishes its worst week since early January. "I do think that you have to be very selective in small caps because things can go down with great velocity," he told CNBC's " Fast Money " on Thursday. "Within the Russell 2000, you have a lot of stuff that you probably don't want to own," he said. Even with the losing week, the Russell 2000 is up almost 2% for the year, as of Friday's market close. "Other financial conditions have eased a bit, which is also helpful for small caps.

Why Goldman Sachs is helping its clients launch ETFs

Investor demand for exchange-traded funds is not slowing down, and firms without ETF offerings may risk losing business, according to one Goldman Sachs expert. "Any number of our clients would tell you, the opportunity cost of not [offering ETF products] is greater," he recently told CNBC's "ETF Edge." To help clients through the process of launching their own ETF products, Goldman Sachs created its ETF Accelerator, a digital platform that helps clients launch, list and manage their own ETF products. The idea was it made it easier to launch an ETF, but it didn't make it easy," Sachs said. It can still take years to build the expertise, headcount and risk management framework necessary to launch an ETF, said Sachs.

You may also want to think about where you're holding these fixed income assets. The fourth step to save on taxes: Consider whether a buyback ETF or a dividend ETF is right for you. Woodard recently highlighted the iShares Core Dividend ETF (DIVB) and the Invesco BuyBack Achievers ETF (PKW) as buyback plays. The top holdings of many ESG funds may be surprisingly familiar. ESG funds also tend to be more heavily invested in technology stocks because the sector is one of the "cleaner" industries, according to former VettaFi financial futurist Dave Nadig. But Noack considers the idea that ESG funds only invest in clean, sustainable sectors as misleading. Global ESG funds saw their first net quarterly outflows on record in the fourth quarter of 2023, according to Morningstar. However, Nadig points out while financial advisors may have pulled back from recommending ESG funds to clients, investor interest hasn't gone anywhere.

The Scope 3 disclosure requirements have drawn strong criticism from many corporations, who claim the regulations are too burdensome. The climate disclosure rule was first proposed in March 2022. Since Congress has not passed major climate legislation for years, opponents of the SEC's climate rule will likely sue the SEC and cite West Virginia v. EPA, again arguing that Congress has not granted specific authority for the SEC to act on climate change. The disclosures required from the proposed SEC rule may shuffle the deck on companies that are considered "green" or "not so green." Arne Noack, manager of the Xtrackers S&P 500 ESG ETF and DWS Head of Systemic Investment Solutions for the Americas, will be the guest on ETF Edge at 1:10 p.m.

However, the fund has seen about $1 billion in net outflows over the past week, according to FactSet. Even with the GBTC outflows, the spot bitcoin funds have still seen hundreds of millions of net inflows, according to FactSet. Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are easy to love, but successfully navigating the space can be challenging — even for experienced investors. Like mutual funds, ETFs allow investors to own many stocks at once. For example, investors' returns can be meaningfully altered by relative moves of the US dollar. Within that group, just 15 ETFs had a Sortino ratio of over 1. The Sortino ratio evaluates a fund or ETF's returns on a risk-adjusted basis relative to its downside volatility, and any mark over 1 is seen as solid.
