Apple spent much of the presentation emphasizing how the iPhone 16 was "built from the ground up to deliver Apple Intelligence." For me, the most interesting features coming to Apple Intelligence are the Writing Tools, AI-generated emojis, and the camera's visual intelligence capabilities. He said the keynote video doesn't do the new iPhone 16 lineup justice. AdvertisementThe tech giant reportedly began briefing its retail employees on all things Apple Intelligence weeks before the iPhone 16 lineup launch. It seems to me that Apple is gearing up to have consumers see its new AI tech for themselves before deciding to upgrade.

The psychotherapist's 2020 book, "Polysecure," has become the poly bible for an increasingly queer and fluid generation. As consensual nonmonogamy went mainstream, searches for Fern's "Polysecure" spiked. "I've heard authors joke they get a cup of coffee from their book," Fern said. When Jessica Fern and Dave Cooley opened up their relationship, Cooley was surprised at the "searing anguish" he felt about his wife seeing other men. Fern, Cooley, and Fern's partner bought the property together and settled in, planning to live there long term.

Democrats Say the Joy Is Back. Kamala Harris’s campaign has been trying to get voters to feel the joy. “I would say it’s her energy; she’s a joyful, energetic person.”“It just feels really exciting to turn the corner,” she added. Not only did Democrats use more words indicating joy and hope about the election, they also used words indicating feelings of anxiety and apprehension. Still, more than 25 percent of Republicans in July used words like “scared” or “nervous” to describe their feelings about the election.

The center said it collected the abusive comments this summer from the Instagram accounts of 10 female officeholders — five Republicans and five Democrats. Some comments included explicit language about rape, injury or death in connection with the female politicians, and Instagram left them up, the center said. The center said 92% of 105 abusive comments targeting Harris were still online a week after it reported them to Instagram. About 1 in 25 replies to female politicians on Instagram are likely to be toxic, according to the center’s analysis of a set of 421,361 comments. Of the 1,000 samples researchers examined, 221 comments were from accounts that had previously targeted the female politicians in the study, it said.

The non-profit advocacy is analyzing large internet platforms to see if they're properly monitoring their sites for hate speech. The report on Wednesday was based on an analysis of 560,000 comments on Instagram posts from five Republican and five Democratic women politicians with high levels of engagement. In prior election cycles, Facebook has also been a hub for the spread of misinformation and toxic content directed at political candidates. The CCDH researchers then used Instagram's own content reporting tools to flag the 1,000 offensive comments it manually discovered. The head of a panel that ruled that the American gymnast Jordan Chiles had to give up her Olympic bronze medal in favor of a Romanian athlete has represented Romania for almost a decade in arbitration cases, documents show. The Romanian athlete, Ana Barbosu, was awarded the bronze medal as a result of the panel’s decision, and Chiles was dropped to fifth place. The result left Chiles brokenhearted: It took away her only individual medal at the Games, and means her appearance on the podium — the first all-Black medals stand at a gymnastics event at the Olympics — is now left with an asterisk. Chiles posted four broken heart emojis on a black background on social media on Saturday after the decision was announced, and later said she was stepping away from social media altogether amid a torrent of racial abuse. The decision to reallocate the medals in the floor exercise outraged U.S. Olympic and gymnastics officials, who have threatened to take their fight to the Swiss courts.

CNN —American gymnast Jordan Chiles and the US Olympic team may very well feel like protagonists in a Franz Kafka novel, as they find themselves trapped in an increasingly surreal scenario while attempting to reclaim her bronze medal. Dr. Hamid G. Gharavi, Philippe Sands and Song Lu sat on the panel, of which Gharavi was the president, according to CAS. PARIS — U.S. gymnast Jordan Chiles must return her bronze medal in the floor exercise, the International Olympic Committee said Sunday, upholding findings that a coach's protest that got her on the podium shouldn't have been allowed. Romanian Ana Bărbosu, 18, will now be the floor exercise bronze medalist. "We are devastated by the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruling regarding women’s floor exercise," according to a statement issued by USA Gymnastics on Saturday night. "The inquiry into the Difficulty Value of Jordan Chiles’ floor exercise routine was filed in good faith and, we believed, in accordance with FIG rules to ensure accurate scoring." "I am taking the time and removing myself from social media for my mental health thank you," she wrote.

“The IOC will reallocate the bronze medal to Ana Bǎrbosu (Romania),” the statement said. But her coach, Cecile Landi, submitted an inquiry to challenge the difficulty score Chiles had received. The court agreed, invalidating Chiles’ score, and the International Gymnastics Federation, known as FIG, then announced that it had officially changed the ranking of the competition, putting Chiles back in fifth place. “The inquiry into the Difficulty Value of Jordan Chiles’ floor exercise routine was filed in good faith and, we believed, in accordance with FIG rules to ensure accurate scoring,” the statement said. CNN —The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced on Sunday that the bronze medal given to American gymnast Jordan Chiles in the floor exercise at the Paris Games will be awarded to her Romanian counterpart Ana Bărbosu. And the IOC confirmed that the score change will mean Chiles will be stripped of her bronze and given to Bărbosu. Ana Bărbosu reacts after competing in the women's floor exercise. Immediately after the competition finished on Monday with Chiles’ routine, Bărbosu thought she had won the bronze medal after posting a score of 13.700. However, CAS’ ruling that the inquiry submitted on behalf of Chiles “was raised after the conclusion of the one-minute deadline” stipulated in the regulations threw Chiles’ medal into doubt.

After learning that she might lose the bronze medal she won in the floor exercise at the Paris Olympics — the only individual medal she won at these Summer Games — the American gymnast Jordan Chiles took to social media on Saturday and posted four broken heart emojis on a black background. That’s four broken hearts for the four seconds that cost her a bronze medal. The International Olympic Committee confirmed on Sunday that it would strip Chiles of her bronze medal and give it to Romania’s Ana Barbosu. The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee said Sunday it would appeal the reallocation of Chiles’s medal. “We firmly believe that Jordan rightfully earned the bronze medal,” it said in a statement.

U.S. gymnast Jordan Chiles might lose her bronze medal. She had placed fifth before the inquiry, behind both Romanians, but received a tenth back on her final score, boosting her onto the podium. In one, the team asked that the 0.1 point penalty for stepping out of bounds on Maneca-Voinea's final score be returned because it was "given without basis." It also requested that Chiles, Maneca-Voinea and Bărbosu all be placed in third and earn bronze medals. If she had not received the deduction, Maneca-Voinea would have scored higher than Bărbosu and Chiles, even after Chiles' score was increased on appeal.

CNN —The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled on Saturday that the initial inquiry made by the USA over Jordan Chiles’ score in Monday’s gymnastics floor exercise final was filed after the one-minute deadline. That means that Chiles’ score is being reverted to the original 13.666, which was only good enough for fifth place. It’s unclear as of Saturday what that means for the bronze medal that Chiles was awarded. Immediately after the competition finished on Monday with Chiles’ routine, Romanian gymnast Ana Bărbosu thought she had won the bronze medal after posting a score of 13.700. CNN has reached out to the FIG to ask what their ruling will be on whether Chiles’ medal will be revoked.

Apple 's new artificial intelligence features will roll out in October, missing the initial launch of iPhone and iPad software updates, according to a Bloomberg report published Monday. The company split the Apple Intelligence features from the initial iOS launch due to concerns over their stability and need to run tests on a wider scale, the report said. Some of the promised Apple Intelligence features, such as ChatGPT integration and Siri improvements, are expected to be released later in the year. Apple plans to give developers early access to Apple Intelligence as soon as this week in the iOS 18.1 beta version, Bloomberg said. The company first announced Apple Intelligence on June 10.
