CNN —A 21-year-old soldier stationed in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, has been charged with murder in the death of a sergeant whose body was found in a dumpster on the military base after she disappeared. At least 51 people have been killed after torrential rains caused flash flooding in southern and eastern Spain, local authorities said Wednesday. The toll makes this the worst natural disaster in the country's recent history and was confirmed by emergency services in the eastern region of Valencia, which said it was only an initial assessment. TEL AVIV, Israel — Israel's emergency services are treating dozens of casualties after a truck rammed into a bus as it was dropping of passengers at a bus stop near Glilot military base north of Tel Aviv on Sunday morning. A spokesperson for Israel’s police force said a preliminary investigation indicated that the truck collided with passengers as well as the bus. United Hatzalah, a volunteer emergency services, said "a large number of pedestrians" were involved, and that people remained trapped under the truck 30 minutes after the incident. CNN —Israeli forces entered the compound of northern Gaza’s Kamal Adwan Hospital and opened fire after days of laying siege to the facility, health authorities in the enclave said. The Gaza health ministry and the director of the hospital in Beit Lahiya, northern Gaza, have told CNN that the Israeli military twice entered the hospital compound over the past 24 hours and fired at parts of the complex. Brisbane, Australia CNN —A woman who tried to retrieve her lost phone from between boulders in Australia’s Hunter Valley became stuck upside down for seven hours before she was rescued earlier this month. Just the bare soles of the woman’s feet can be seen in photos of the incident posted on social media Monday by the New South Wales (NSW) Ambulance service. NSW AmbulanceHer friends tried for an hour to free her, according to the NSW Ambulance service, but eventually gave up and called for help. CNN —The House task force investigating the first assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump released its interim report on Monday that included excerpts of new testimony from local law enforcement officials who provided firsthand accounts of the lack of communication and security failures at the Butler, Pennsylvania, rally. The testimony in the report from unnamed Butler officials details the chaotic sequence of events from when local officials first spotted the Trump rally gunman, Thomas Crooks, to when Crooks was finally shot down. The task force has also not received any evidence to suggest that the message from local law enforcement about Crooks possessing a weapon reached Trump’s Secret Service detail prior to shots fired, according to the report. The House voted on July 24 to create the bipartisan task force to investigate the attempted assassination. It will issue a final report on its findings no later than December 13, “including any recommendations for legislative reforms necessary to prevent future security lapses,” according to the text of the resolution the House passed.
