Candace Fails screamed for someone in the Texas hospital to help her pregnant daughter. Fails, who would have seen her daughter turn 20 this Friday, still cannot understand why Crain’s emergency was not treated like an emergency. Passed nearly four decades ago, it requires emergency rooms to stabilize patients in medical crises. Eight years earlier, the Texas Medical Board found that he had failed to diagnose appendicitis in one patient and syphilis in another. Last year, he sent a letter threatening to prosecute a doctor who had received court approval to provide an emergency abortion for a Dallas woman.

After Harris became the nominee, support from Asian American women jumped to 72%. Support from Asian American men also increased, but not as drastically, sitting now at 59%. Though not nearly as strong as Harris’ pull on Asian women, there are factors that might be siphoning Asian men, Ramakrishnan said. Trump has made marginal gains among Asian men too, he said, but Harris’ draw on both groups far outweighs it. “AAPI women and South Asian women view abortion access as health care,” said Varun Nikore, executive director of the nonprofit AAPI Victory Alliance.

The company did not respond to a detailed list of questions about Barnica’s care. When Barnica’s husband arrived, she told him doctors couldn’t intervene until there was no heartbeat. The law did not account for the possibility of a future emergency, one that could develop in hours or days without intervention, doctors told ProPublica. “We have to reduce spending to live within our means,” Musk said. That gives Musk’s frankness about reductions — and his track record of making large, painful cuts at his own companies — added weight. The Trump campaign didn’t immediately comment but has previously said that the GOP agenda wouldn’t cause short-term economic hardship. There’s some skepticism on Wall Street that a new Trump administration could implement spending cuts on the scale Musk has proposed. “They’re both indicating they intend to maintain substantial deficits and elevated government spending, certainly compared with the strength of the economy,” Elliott said.

Ahead of Election Day, Business Insider spoke with voters about how family and reproductive healthcare access will influence their decision. Along the spectrum of support for abortion access, one common thread stood out: The cost of raising a family. In terms of abortion access, Trump has bragged about his role in overturning Roe v. Wade — a decision that led to 41 states with bans. In her first time voting for president, Sark said she plans to vote third party, likely for Green Party candidate Jill Stein. "I don't think that there's really anything that we can do about abortion in this election," Sark said.

CNN —Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris have laid out a broad array of ideas aimed at making life more affordable and strengthening the economy, which rank at the top of voters’ concerns. Both Trump and Harris have rolled out pricey provisions without specifying how they would cover the cost. Though his campaign hasn’t released details on the proposal, Trump has indicated that he would eliminate both federal income taxes and payroll taxes, which fund Social Security and Medicare. Around half of beneficiaries – mainly those with higher incomes – pay federal income tax on their Social Security payments. Harris’ plan would also accelerate the speed of Medicare’s drug price negotiations so that the costs of more medications come down faster.

It's a dynamic that has forced many election officials out of the industry, while those who remain have taken in some cases dramatic steps to protect poll workers and voters ahead of Election Day. In interviews, county and state election officials shared details of security plans with NBC News. The county allocated money for so-called panic buttons that would allow election workers to quickly contact authorities in emergencies. They decided to give police radios to election workers instead.

Now that the Federal Reserve has started to cut the federal funds rate, those yields are moving lower. Lincoln Financial's analysis shows that cash yields have historically fallen by 2%, on average, twelve months after the start of a Fed cutting cycle. What to do with excess cash Instruments like CDs, high-yield savings accounts and money market funds are a good place to stash cash for emergencies and upcoming expenses. However, the forward market implies that they should start to look appealing relative to money funds in about six months, Abate wrote. "We expect investors to rotate from money funds into IG only if compensated for the risk," he noted.

Your injector doesn't have the right credentialsTreatments from unlicensed or unqualified injectors are always dangerous, whether you're getting Botox or "vampire facials," because they can neglect basic safety protocols. Price gouging is the practice of retailers artificially inflating prices dramatically when the retailer's costs have not increased. In times of crisis, when urgent demand vastly outpaces supply, consumers can be especially vulnerable to price gouging. Florida is preparing for Hurricane Milton to make landfall on its western coast Wednesday, deepening the wounds left by the devastation of Hurricane Helene, which ravaged the southeastern U.S. about a week earlier. The attorney general's office has received more than 450 consumer contacts alleging price gouging related to Helene, which "mostly concern fuel," a spokesperson told CNBC. Though the price-gouging panic is normal during natural disasters, just the term "price gouging" has political implications, less than a month out from a presidential election that is extremely close.
