London CNN —A medallion containing some of the original mold involved in the discovery of penicillin is expected to fetch up to $50,000 when it goes up for auction later this month. The mold medallion will be auctioned by Bonhams later this month. Bonhams“The cultures were contaminated by an airborne mold and before disposing of the cultures, he noticed that the mold had prevented normal growth by the staph,” it adds. It is expected to fetch $30,000-$50,000 in an online auction that runs from October 13 to 23. Penicillin changed the course of modern medicine, with antibiotics key to the decline of many diseases over the course of the 20th century.

London CNN —Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has controversially broken royal protocol and claimed in his upcoming memoir that Queen Elizabeth II was suffering from bone cancer before her death. Johnson isn’t the first prime minister to reminisce about his life, time in office and interactions with the late Queen in an autobiography. Buckingham Palace has a policy not to comment on books released about the royal family and as such has not confirmed or denied Johnson’s assertions. London CNN —Former BBC news presenter Huw Edwards has been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment suspended for two years by a London court for having indecent images of children, according to PA Media. Edwards, who was the BBC’s highest-paid journalist, pleaded guilty in July to having 41 indecent images of children. The adult man who sent Edwards the images is a convicted pedophile, the court heard on Monday. Edwards sent him hundreds of pounds “apparently off the back of (him) sending pornographic images,” prosecutor Ian Hope said. No more illegal images were sent after that message, the court heard, but the pair were said to continue exchanging legal pornographic images until April 2022.

CNN —Britain’s King Charles III and Queen Camilla are heading down under in the fall. The forthcoming visit to Australia will be the 75-year-old British monarch’s first trip to a Commonwealth realm since he ascended the throne. In addition to the United Kingdom, Charles is also head of state in 14 realms including Australia, New Zealand and Canada, though his role is largely ceremonial. “Their majesties’ state visit to Samoa will celebrate the strong bilateral relationship between the Pacific Island nation and the UK,” the palace added. Charles’ visit to Australia will be a key test of his popularity as head of state.

The building, while beautifully situated and sporting stately architecture, has faced deep discounts in recent years, said Mr. Hylton, a result of post-pandemic troubles.
