He also said she had luggage that went to New York City rerouted back to Los Angeles International Airport, where she picked it up the day before crossing into Mexico. He said that detectives can't say they're "100% right" about their determination but that they know she didn't have her phone after she left Los Angeles International Airport. That day, family members said, she sent messages that concerned them because of their content and a voice that didn't seem to match hers. McDonnell said Kobayashi was reported missing Nov. 13, but the LAPD took over the case on Nov. 15. The sweeping pardon means Hunter Biden won’t face any punishment for criminal convictions in two separate cases, one involving gun charges, the other tax evasion. “They took a gamble that didn’t play out as they hoped,” former Justice Department spokesman Anthony Coley said. If he follows through, Trump may try to blunt the fallout by invoking the Biden pardon. “Joe Biden's pardon of Hunter Biden proves President Trump's signature campaign promise to end the weaponization of our justice system needs to happen,” she said, adding: “President Trump has made that promise. A judge has already ruled there is no merit to the idea that Hunter Biden is a victim of selective prosecution.

Economists broadly dislike tariffs, saying they tend to increase prices for consumers — a likelihood that many company executives are already warning of. The new slate of tariffs Trump calls for would be much steeper and more far-reaching if fully implemented. “In his first term, President Trump instituted tariffs against China that created jobs, spurred investment and resulted in no inflation,” Trump transition spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said in a statement. Angie Chua, founder of Bobo Design Studio, is considering adding a line item to show customers how tariffs affect her prices. The tariffs would be a significant escalation of Trump’s previous proposal, which was already a major increase on more targeted tariffs enacted during Trump’s first administration and kept in place by President Joe Biden. Canada is similarly considering its own options, including possible tariffs on U.S. goods, according to The Associated Press. America’s biggest import from Canada is oil — and any increase in energy prices would likely be felt throughout the economy. And in her statement reacting to Trump’s posts, Mexico’s Sheinbaum stated caravans of migrants were no longer reaching the border. And now he’s talking about tariffs to punish Mexico and Canada for not enforcing drugs and migrants across the border.
