North Korea claims it tested an underwater drone that can create a radioactive tsunami. It was designed to strike both naval assets and coastal targets, North Korean state media outlet KCNA reported. Friday's announcement was the first time that North Korea has publicly mentioned such a weapon. North Korea has in the last year aggressively ramped up its testing of long-range and intercontinental ballistic missiles. These tests have often been framed as a response to the US and South Korea for North Korea says is unprovoked aggression.

LONDON, Nov 1 (Reuters) - Deutsche Boerse's (DB1Gn.DE) derivatives division stepped up efforts on Tuesday to attract a bigger slice of multi-trillion euro derivatives clearing from London to its base in Frankfurt ahead of anticipated European Union legislation. More than 600 clearing members and buy-side clients have been signed up by Eurex Clearing for swaps clearing, but many of the accounts are inactive. LSEG has repeatedly said there has been no material shift in volumes from London to Frankfurt, and some 75% of euro interest rate swaps are traded among non-EU counterparts in any case. Banks say privately that mandating a shift in euro clearing would hit EU banks most as they benefit from LCH's multi-currency pool, while Eurex focuses on the euro. Global banks say they can also shift clearing to U.S. clearers which have open ended permission from Brussels to serve customers in the EU.
Adjusted net profit in the period came in at 3.73 billion euros ($3.72 billion), soaring from 1.43 billion euros a year ago, and beating a 3.21 billion euro consensus. The state-controlled group raised its full-year expectations for the gas & LNG division and for the downstream business. "Eni has reported strong numbers this morning, with adjusted EBIT and net income coming in ahead of consensus," analysts from RBC Europe said. REPLACING RUSSIAEni will replace at least 50% of its Russian gas supply this winter, leveraging its broad and diversified reserve base, its long-standing relationships with producing countries and a growing presence in liquefied natural gas (LNG), it said. Looking at the different businesses of the group, the gas and LNG division stands out.
LNG prices have soared this year as Moscow progressively cut piped natural gas supplies to Europe, which heavily depended on Russian imports. Western sanctions on Russia, which is among the world's leading oil and gas producers, in response to its invasion of Ukraine in February, helped to drive European gas prices to an all-time high in August. The world's biggest LNG trader Shell missed some of the benefit of the price rise after a fall in production following strikes at Australia's Prelude site. Gearing at Shell, which is on track for a record year of profits, increased slightly to 20.3%. Spain's Repsol (REP.MC) on Thursday reported a doubling of its profit to 1.48 billion euros ($1.49 billion).
Exxon says it will transport and store underground 2 million metric tons of CO2 per year produced starting in 2025, when CF Industries opens a $200 million CO2 compression facility in Louisiana to process emissions from its ammonia production. He declined to comment on financial terms of the deal with CF Industries. Exxon signed a parallel agreement to use Enlink Midstream's network to transport the CO2 to the storage site. While critics view carbon sequestration as greenwashing by polluters, Exxon says the business can achieve double-digit percentage returns while limiting planet-warming gases. The Louisiana initiative is part of the company's planned $15 billion investment by 2027 in low carbon operations.
