The Many Links Between Project 2025 and Trump’s WorldFormer president Donald J. Trump has repeatedly claimed that he had nothing to do with Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation’s conservative policy initiative to reshape the federal government. But Project 2025 has numerous ties to Mr. Trump and his campaign, a New York Times analysis has found. L. ZorcJump to the full list of authors, editors and contributorsSpokespeople for Project 2025 have denied that they are advocates for any particular candidate, and Project 2025 has no official ties to the Trump campaign. To limit the appearance of connection, Mr. Trump’s transition team has been excluding prominent people linked to Project 2025 from its preparations. Project 2025 additionally calls for the dismantling of the federal Education Department, which Mr. Trump has also pledged to do.

If Netanyahu is feeling that pressure, that wasn't evident from his comments on Friday. International insistence that the Israeli government ease the suffering in Gaza had already intensified in the weeks before Sinwar was killed. Domestically, that may be more of a complex dance for Netanyahu, who heads a still-fragile coalition comprised of many of Israel’s most hawkish lawmakers. Until then, we will intensify military pressure,” Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich — whom both major U.K. political parties have considered sanctioning this year — said in a post on X. Before Hamas' attack, Netanyahu was scrambling to keep onside the disparate right-wing and religious parties in his fractious ruling coalition while facing huge protests against him.

“The global water crisis is a tragedy but is also an opportunity to transform the economics of water — and to start by valuing water properly so as to recognize its scarcity,” said Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organization and one of the commission’s co-chairs in a statement. With nearly three billion people already in areas experiencing unstable water trends and several cities sinking due to the loss of below-ground water, densely populated areas such as northwestern India, northeastern China and southern and eastern Europe will bear the brunt of global water mismanagement, the report says. “The global water crisis is a ticking time bomb. Even so, a lack of public funds being devoted to water issues by lawmakers around the world will do little to solve the problem. Governments “can’t even react to the symptoms of the water problem, let alone solve the problems if they’re being fiscally strangled,” said UCL's Mazzucato.

Israeli officials were Wednesday scrutinizing an unusually stern letter from the U.S. government threatening to review military assistance to the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if it continued to block essential aid from entering the Gaza Strip. People involved in aid distribution in Gaza told NBC News that several trucks had entered Gaza City in the north of the enclave, but that aid had not been distributed elsewhere. Since Sept. 30, he said, “only 12 trucks of food have actually made it to the population” through the Erez border crossing in northern Gaza. While the U.N. only counts its own trucks, Israel includes commercial vehicles in its tallies. The State Department says U.S. pressure placed on Israel in April did work and humanitarian assistance increased.

Elliott Investment Management has requested a special meeting at Southwest Airlines , formalizing the launch of a long-signaled proxy fight for control of the carrier's board. Elliott has also trimmed the size of its board slate from 10 director candidates to eight, after Southwest shrunk its board size from 15 to 12. CNBC reported last month that Elliott was preparing to call a special meeting. David Hess, who joined Southwest's board in 2021, was also on the board of Arconic in the midst of its proxy fight with Elliott. Elliott has never before called for a special meeting, which at Southwest carries a higher threshold of approval compared with voting at a regularly scheduled shareholder meeting.

Horror fans are calling the main character, Art the Clown, a new icon for the genre. Fans say the success of "Terrifier 3" has cemented its lead character, the demonic, mute serial killer Art the Clown, as a horror icon. Now, fans have hailed Art as a modern horror icon akin to other slasher villains such as Norman Bates, Leatherface, Michael Myers, and Freddy Krueger. My horror hot take:Art the Clown is the first true horror icon to emerge thus far this century (Pennywise was already an icon under Tim Curry, and the “Saw” films have gone on without Jigsaw). He’s the horror icon we need right now.

Soren Lassen, head of offshore wind research at Wood Mackenzie, said the U.S. offshore wind industry is going through a needed readjustment, and that while the long-term outlook remains intact, progress has been pushed out. South Fork Wind offers tangible evidence that wind projects can work. The company developed the five-turbine Block Island Wind Farm, which is northwest of South Fork Wind, in 2016. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management first awarded the leases for South Fork Wind in 2013, which where acquired by Deepwater Wind. People have died after drinking tea brewed from unwashed poppy seeds. Members of the House of Representatives and Senate have proposed legislation “to prohibit the distribution and sale of contaminated poppy seeds in order to prevent harm, addiction, and further deaths from morphine-contaminated poppy seeds.” The bill was one of several on the agenda for a September 10 House hearing. On the other hand, tea made from large quantities of unwashed poppy seeds could lead to addiction and overdose, doctors said. The US Drug Enforcement Administration said unwashed poppy seeds can kill when used alone or in combination with other drugs.
