Images of the nude photos were found on the men’s phones and on Alcala’s iCloud account, according to the indictments. While the indictments don’t specify how the men came under suspicion, the attorney for one of Alcala’s alleged victims has said she reported an incident to the FBI, and one of McKnight’s alleged victims has said she reported him to his supervisor. Seven of the counts specify he took photographs of nude images he found on the victims’ phones, which were found on McKnight’s cell phone. In two of the incidents, McKnight took the alleged victims’ phones after arresting them, the indictment says. One of the former state trooper’s alleged victims described her experience as “really violating” in an interview with KFVS.

While Gaetz’s ability to be confirmed appears on the rocks among Senate Republicans, President-elect Donald Trump’s team remains confident he will eventually be confirmed, even if it’s after an ugly battle. Gaetz and Trump attorney Todd Blanche are moving full speed ahead on trying to fill out the Justice Department, according to sources familiar with the planning. In his few terms in the House, Gaetz has often been embroiled in controversy. The attorney, John Clune, also called for the release of a House Ethics Committee report detailing the committee’s investigation into Gaetz, which has been ongoing for several years. Since the Truth Social post, Trump has not asked for any specific Cabinet pick, including Gaetz, to be confirmed via recess appointment.

WASHINGTON — Rep. Dan Goldman, D-N.Y., plans to file a resolution in the House on Thursday that would express support for the 22nd Amendment of the Constitution, which sets the term limits for the president. However, he could introduce it as a privileged resolution to force Republicans to vote on the matter. The resolution, which NBC News obtained Wednesday, reaffirms that the 22nd Amendment "applies to two terms in the aggregate as President of the United States" and reaffirms that it "applies to President-elect Trump." The resolution lists a number of instances in which Trump has joked or floated the idea of serving longer than two terms in the White House or being a dictator. To amend the Constitution and modify term limits for president, both the House and the Senate would need to approve amendment language by two-thirds votes.

A woman in Kentucky who is seeking an abortion filed a lawsuit Tuesday that seeks to strike down the state’s near total ban. The suit, filed by a woman referred to in the documents as Mary Poe, alleges that two Kentucky abortion laws violate the state Constitution’s rights to privacy and self-determination. “I feel overwhelmed and frustrated that I cannot access abortion care here in my own state, and I have started the difficult process of arranging to get care in another state where it’s legal. Poe’s lawsuit is also requesting class-action status for all pregnant people in Kentucky who are seeking access to abortion in the state but are not allowed to receive the medical treatment because of the abortion laws.
