Early November ushers in a skywatching bonanza, with three active meteor showers offering the chance to see shooting stars light up the night sky. The Southern Taurids meteor shower is expected to reach its peak overnight from Monday into Tuesday. At the same time, the last of the Orionid meteor shower should still be visible, following its peak on Oct. 20. The Southern and Northern Taurids, meanwhile, are both long-lasting meteor showers, with peaks that are less clearly defined than some other shooting star shows. Small modular reactors (SMRs) promise to reduce capital costs and accelerate construction timelines that typically plague nuclear plants, but the technology has struggled to reach the commercial stage. The difference now is the appetite of tech companies for fossil-free fuel. The market for SMRs could grow by two gigawatts to five gigawatts by 2035 assuming big tech companies make up a majority of the demand, Percoco said. The small, pure-play advanced reactor companies NuScale and Oklo are options, but their stocks are volatile and business outlook uncertain. SMR OKLO 1M mountain NuScale Power has climbed 54% and Oklo by 117% in the past month.

Outside groups have poured an astounding $1.1 billion into the presidential race with less than two weeks to go before Election Day, an NBC News analysis found, surpassing the record set during the 2020 election. To put the current level of outside spending into perspective, the $1 billion-plus figure dwarfs the gross domestic product of more than a dozen nations. Outside groups have spent $464 million in support of her and more than $393 million in opposition. By comparison, Trump has benefited from $75 million of outside spending supporting him, while facing $124 million in outside spending against him. Add that to the more than $1 billion in independent expenditures, and the price tag of the presidential campaign reaches $2 billion.
