  + stars: | 2023-09-29 | by ( Julie Coleman | ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +2 min
CNBC's Jim Cramer said next Friday's nonfarm payrolls — the employment data over the past month — may decide if October will see a market rally. On Tuesday, spice and flavor manufacturer McCormick will report earnings, and beverage company Molson Coors will have an analyst meeting. Cramer said the tech company is coming off the report of a great quarter and forecast, and he thinks the stock could have more room to run. Cramer again emphasized Friday's labor report, saying in order to have a "strong October," the nonfarm payrolls need to show some slack in the workforce. Cramer noted the jobs report will not come out if the government shuts down.

Earlier this month, Kellogg forecast a smaller drop in annual profit than previously expected following multiple price hikes for its breakfast snacks and cereals.

Kellogg is renaming its snack business "Kellanova" — a combo of Kellogg and a Latin word for "new." Kellogg is naming its snacking division "Kellanova," the latest step in breaking up the company, it said on Wednesday. The name draws inspiration from the Kellogg name and a common Latin word, Kellogg CEO Steve Cahillane said in a statement. Etsy and Mondelez are among other companies with Latin namesKellanova is hardly the first company rebrand to draw inspiration from Latin. Before that, cigarette maker Philip Morris said it would change its name to "Altria" in an allusion to the Latin word for "high," the Journal reported in 2001.
New York CNN —Kellogg has picked a name for its new spinoff companies. As for “WK Kellogg Co.,” well, that’s a little more straight forward because its named after company founder William Keith Kellogg. Employees helped decide the names, Kellogg (K) said. Kellogg (K)” and others that included a variation of the word “nova.”Despite the silly sounding results, landing on a spinoff name is harder than it looks. Kellanova is using the NYSE ticker symbol “K,” while ticker and exchange information about “WK Kellogg Co.” will be announced in the coming months.

Kellogg, the maker of Corn Flakes cereal, and other food producers have been raising prices to offset more expensive food commodities and supply-chain challenges. Kellogg Co. boosted its outlook after reporting 9% growth to its top line in the third quarter, the latest food company showing sales holding up as they raise prices. The maker of Rice Krispies cereal and Cheez-It crackers said higher prices and a positive shift in the mix of products it sold helped its North America cereal business rebound from flagging sales earlier this year and continuing bottlenecks in the supply chain.
