In conversations about these phenomena, social media has consistently been at the center, though mental health issues can have multiple contributing factors. Those with depression were more susceptible to social comparison and pressure to show their best selves on social media. Many young people reported an inability to control their use, social media distracting from other activities and unconsciously reaching for social media when bored. Ask the teens in your life what they like about these platforms and what types of connections or activities support their mental health, Lenhart said. Let them know you’re there to help figure out a solution if social media is upsetting them or interfering with other responsibilities.

Ascentxmedia | E+ | Getty ImagesMany people claim Social Security retirement benefits at the earliest possible claiming age of 62. Yet recent research finds working with a financial professional does not necessarily encourage individuals to claim Social Security at later ages. Why it pays to wait to claim Social SecurityWhen Social Security retirement beneficiaries claim at age 62, their benefits are permanently reduced. As the Social Security full retirement age moves to age 67, benefits available at age 62 are even further reduced. Delaying Social Security benefits is so valuable not only because of the increase to benefits, but also the annual cost-of-living adjustments tied to inflation.

Even as Russian bombs pound Ukraine, Moscow's mercenaries and spies are busy trying to set much of the rest of the world afire. To Russia, the conventional warfare waged in Ukraine, and unconventional "gray zone" warfare waged around the world, are two sides of the same coin. Human intelligence operations are used to attempt elite capture through the offer of assistance to politicians who support Russian interests. "As the war in Ukraine protracts, Russia has an interest in creating crises further afield," said RUSI. "As a lot of Russia's unconventional operations are self-defeating, countering Russian unconventional warfare must be premised on careful, selective, and intelligence- driven targeting," the study emphasized.

In Sweden, architects are attempting to journey back to the days before concrete, bricks, and steel, and building impressive towers made with timber, The Washington Post reported. The architects told the Post that, at least in the heavily forested areas of Sweden, wood-based architecture is the future of sustainable building for several reasons. The building material's emissions have grown faster than most other single sources of carbon dioxide thanks to their increased demand and production, Inside Climate News reported. In places like West Africa , architects like Diébédo Francis Kéré are turning back to traditional building materials like soil, stone, and vegetation as sustainable building materials . "The built environment — as it is built now — is not sustainable," Michael Green, the author of "The Case for Tall Wood Buildings," told the Post.

This article is part of the Fine Arts & Exhibits special section on the art world’s expanded view of what art is and who can make it. Just inside the lobby of the History Colorado Center — in front of the familiar “Welcome to Colorado” sign — stand two tepees. One is erected in Cheyenne style, the other Arapaho style, with doorways facing east to greet the morning sun. They sit atop an aerial map of Colorado, occupying the tribes’ traditional homelands. A visitor to the museum, in Denver, might wonder whether these tepees are just an empty symbol, pointing to a people who have been wiped out, leaving behind nothing but their homes and the objects they made — their voices and contemporary selves absent.
