Goldman Sachs paid professional golfer Patrick Cantlay more than $1 million annually in a sponsorship deal linked to the bank's consumer-banking efforts, CNBC has learned. He got paid significantly more when Goldman renewed his sponsorship in a one year extension earlier in 2023, this person said. Cantlay has earned more than $42 million in official competitions since turning pro in 2012, according to the PGA Tour. Goldman spokesman Tony Fratto declined to comment on the financial aspects of the sponsorship, as did Cantlay's representative Molly Levinson. Cantlay still appears on Goldman's website as a brand ambassador, along with LGPA golfer Nelly Korda and McLaren's Formula 1 racing team.

CNN —Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s high-tech indoor golf venture, the TGL, has been delayed by a year after the inflatable dome of its custom-built Florida venue deflated, organizers announced Monday. Organizers said the league’s 24 players, six team ownership groups and other key partners, including the PGA Tour, had been consulted ahead of the postponement. The latest settlements in California related to cases due to go to trial in November, with a further set scheduled to begin in Delaware courts in January, GSK said. The company still faces about 79,000 cases related to Zantac in the United States, with 73,000 of them in Delaware. Late in June, the company agreed to settle a similar lawsuit with California resident James Goetz who alleged he developed bladder cancer after taking Zantac. The settlement could be read that GSK sees a risk that these Zantac cases are strong enough that the company might lose at trial, J.P Morgan added.
