TOKYO — Lawmakers in Japan voted Monday to retain the embattled Shigeru Ishiba as prime minister despite his long-governing party’s dismal showing in parliamentary elections last month. A Staten Island, New York, family has experienced a whirlwind of emotions after they were incorrectly told by police that their loved one had been killed in a car crash. Devora said the family was “devastated" by the news and did not learn until 36 hours later that it was another woman, and not Owens, who had died in the crash. “They had to notify the rest of their family members, including their kids about what happened.
