All three states lean heavily Republican in federal elections, yet Democrats currently control the governorship in two out of the three. As usual, we are rating these races on the following scale: Safe Republican, Likely Republican, Lean Republican, Toss-Up, Lean Democratic, Likely Democratic and Safe Democratic. The race moving in the Republican direction is Louisiana, which we’re shifting from Likely Republican to Safe Republican. But for now, we’ll keep it at Likely Republican. That may be in tune with Kentucky voters, who, despite the state’s Republican lean, rejected a 2022 ballot measure that would have enhanced the state’s ability to outlaw abortion.

Beshear's ad features an incest survivor who said Cameron's anti-abortion views would have left her without options. Cameron previously appeared to flip-flop over his opposition to rape and incest exceptions to bans. Cameron previously said that he supported Kentucky laws, neither of which has exceptions in the cases of rape or incest. In June, abortion rights advocates vowed to continue fighting the bans that continue to be in effect. In a major vote, Kentuckians in November 2022 rejected an anti-abortion effort that would have denied any state constitutional protections for abortion rights — one of a string of abortion rights victories since Roe was reversed.

Andy Beshear has seized a commanding fundraising lead over Republican challenger Daniel Cameron in their marquee matchup in Kentucky, their latest campaign finance reports showed. Heading into the fall campaign, Beshear had the advantage of a noncompetitive spring primary campaign, while Cameron exhausted most of his funds during a crowded GOP primary. Cameron’s campaign reported raising about $2.3 million in contributions since May. Cameron's campaign contends their grassroots support is deeper, given the state's GOP strength, especially across the vast rural stretches of the Bluegrass State. We are confident that with our conservative message, robust fundraising and extensive travel schedule, Daniel Cameron will defeat Andy Beshear,” Sean Southard, a Cameron campaign spokesman, said in a statement.

Beshear's campaign released a TV ad featuring a prosecutor denouncing the law's lack of exceptions for rape or incest. Matt Bevin played up his opposition to abortion while Beshear focused on education and other issues. Since then, Kentucky's “trigger law” abortion ban — passed in 2019 — took effect when Roe v. Wade was struck down. In Kentucky, Cameron’s office has gone to court to defend the trigger law ban and another anti-abortion state law that outlaws abortion after the sixth week of pregnancy. During a GOP primary debate in March, Cameron expressed support for the near-total abortion ban.

"Titanic" and "Avatar" director James Cameron doesn't think AI will replace human writers. Cameron said he "certainly" wasn't interested in AI writing his scripts, but he could be forced to reassess his stance in the future. The Writers Guild and Screen Actors Guild are currently on strike for the first time since 1960. A significant factor in their protest is the fear of being replaced by AI, Insider previously reported. Richard Walter, the former chairman of UCLA's screenwriting program, told Insider writers should not fear AI.

LONDON, June 19 (Reuters) - Former prime minister David Cameron told an inquiry on Monday that Britain was prepared for a flu-type pandemic but not enough work was done in advance to confront an asymptomatic disease similar to COVID-19. Britain is holding an inquiry into the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic after Britain recorded one of the world's highest death tolls. It could prove a headache for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who was finance minister during the pandemic and faces an election expected next year. "When you think: what would be different if more time had been spent on a high-infectious asymptomatic pandemic, different recommendations would've been made about what was necessary to prepare for." Cameron's finance minister George Osborne will testify on Tuesday while Jeremy Hunt, the current finance minister and health minister under Cameron, will give evidence on Wednesday.

Greater stability will boost Australian hopes, says Labuschagne

June 3 (Reuters) - Batsman Marnus Labuschagne believes Australia will benefit from increased stability in their Ashes squad as they prepare to face England in the first test of the series later this month. "In 2019, we weren't as set on the team and there was probably a lot more questions about people coming back in," Labuschagne said. "That was Steve, Dave and Cameron's first entry back into test cricket, there wasn't that much stability, even with our bowlers. He helped the Australians retain the Ashes before playing a prominent role in the 4-0 series victory over the English in Australia in 2021/22. I really feel like we let one slip last time we were here, and hopefully we can amend that."

I appreciate the fact that he's going to now oversee the Louisville Metro Police Department," she said. "The DOJ had a completely separate responsibility from what we did in terms of our investigation in Louisville. A year after Taylor's death, the Justice Department opened an investigation into the Louisville police department to look at whether it had a "pattern or practice" of unconstitutional policing. The findings resulted in a "consent decree," an agreement between the Justice Department and the police department on steps the force has to take to rectify those findings. No officers were directly charged with killing Taylor under Kentucky law after Cameron's office presented the case to a grand jury.

Polling suggests that a majority of Brits now think that the U.K. was wrong to leave the European Union. NurPhoto / Contributor / Getty ImagesLONDON — Almost seven years and four prime ministers since the U.K. voted to leave the European Union, polling suggests public sentiment has turned against Brexit. "The second thing is the increasing number of leave and other voters who are coming to see Brexit as having had negative economic impacts." But longer-term factors played a role, and he suggested that a lengthy stagnation in living standards, partly caused by the austerity policies introduced by David Cameron's government, contributed to the anger unleashed across working-class communities in the Brexit vote. Brexit being 'redefined' Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson won a landslide election victory in 2019 with a promise to "get Brexit done," touting an "oven-ready" withdrawal agreement he had negotiated with the European Union.

The footage from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) was shot about 2 miles (3 km) below the ocean's surface, just months after explorers found the wreckage in 1985. Since the discovery, several documentaries about the Titanic have showed footage of the wreckage scene. During 11 dives in July 1986, footage was shot by cameras on a human-occupied submersible and a small remotely operated vessel that maneuvered through tight spaces. The unveiling of the footage has been timed with the re-release of director James Cameron's 1997 film "Titanic" on its 25th anniversary. "By releasing this footage, WHOI is helping tell an important part of a story that spans generations and circles the globe."
The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution says it will release 1986 footage of the Titanic on Wednesday. Saturday was the 25th anniversary of James Cameron's "Titanic" based on the tragic ocean liner. The 80-minute uncut and unnarrated video, which will be uploaded by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution to WHOI's YouTube channel at 7:30 p.m. ET Wednesday, captures some never-before-seen images of the ocean liner that sank, killing about 1,500 in April 1912, according to AP News. One Titanic historian hobbyist told Insider, "The Titanic is such a phenomenon that any new information you can get from it is instantly intriguing.
James Cameron earned at least $95 million for "Avatar: The Way of Water," Forbes reported. The long-awaited "Avatar" sequel has earned $2.2 billion worldwide, including $647 million in the US, since opening in theaters about two months ago. The $95 million Cameron earned for "The Way of Water" made him the No. He earned $350 million for the first "Avatar," based largely on box-office and home-entertainment sales, Deadline reported in 2010. "The Way of Water" has performed well enough at the box office that the planned third, fourth, and fifth "Avatar" movies will be made and released, Cameron said in January.
For comparison, all other movies released in 2022 — not including "The Way of Water" — saw less than 14% of ticket sales from premium showings, averaging $15.76 a ticket. Bolstering box office numbers for the film is the push from Disney and Cameron for 3D showings. Since its release, the "Avatar" sequel has seen more than 56% of its tickets sold for 3D showings. The original 2009 "Avatar," which is the top grossing film of all time, also did well with 3D and premium tickets. To be sure, "The Way of Water" has not reached its historic box office just because of surcharges for 3D and premium format screenings.
