Elon Musk attended a Twitter Space Q&A with more than 100,000 listeners on Saturday. This is the second time in 2022 that Musk has alluded to his mysterious death. In a Saturday Twitter Space, Musk hosted a live Q&A on the "Twitter Files" bombshell dropped on Friday. According to Twitter, 1.8 million total tuned in to the Twitter Space interview. In the Q&A, Musk also suggested Twitter favored Democrats over Republicans in its censorship.

“The Gen Z electorate can make or break the election in some of our key races,” said Ashley Aylward, 26, a research manager at HIT Strategies, a Washington-based public opinion research firm focusing on youth and minority voters. The firm was started in 2019 “because we were seeing so many political operatives kind of just dismissing the emerging electorate — young people, people of color,” she said. As more of Gen Z reaches voting age, experts have advised candidates to change their strategies to appeal to new voters. Experts said social media — and TikTok specifically — are key in strategizing for the Gen Z vote in the 2022 election. Experts emphasized that Gen Z cares about authenticity and casualness; candidates can “miss the mark” when they “don’t use the language that young people do," Aylward said.

Dylan Mulvaney, a transgender creator who has chronicled her transition with her "Days of Girlhood" series, on Sunday responded to a slew of Caitlyn Jenner's tweets in which she commented on Mulvaney's body. Mulvaney said what prompted the response was one of Jenner's tweets, in which she said, "He is talking about his penis!" Mulvaney then pulled up a screenshot of a different Jenner tweet, in which she wrote, in part, "Dylan...congrats your trans with a penis." In the video, Mulvaney said the experience made her realize that transgender women should not feel compelled to avoid wearing tight pants or tuck their penises. Prior to Mulvaney posting her video, Jenner said in a tweet she had "never received more death threats."

But with few obvious alternatives, Twitter users may be left with nowhere else to go. Other platforms, like Mastodon, have promised a more decentralized social media experience. “Excited to see what you accomplish here,” retired basketball star Shaquille O’Neill tweeted at Musk on Wednesday ahead of the deal closing. Musk has said he would restore Trump’s Twitter account, though Trump has previously said he would remain on Truth Social. By unbanning users and unwinding content moderation efforts, Musk could make Twitter less palatable for its most vulnerable users, typically women, members of the LGBTQ community, and people of color, according to safety experts.
