The Green Bay Packers, who are the 12th most-valuable NFL franchise at $6.3 billion, according to CNBC's Official 2024 NFL Team Valuations, are the only publicly owned team in the league. The franchise is completely owned by stockholders, many of them Packers fans, in a structure established more than 100 years ago. The share offerings throughout the years have been used to pull the team out of rocky financial situations and do larger renovations of Lambeau Field. The unique structure puts the Packers among the teams that newly approved private equity investors will be least interested in.

US Steel and Nippon Steel both indicated in statements that they’re open to legal fights to get the deal approved, no matter what actions is announced by Biden. Shares of US Steel (X) closed down 17.5% on the news at $29.37, well below the $55 a share that Nippon Steel agreed to pay for the stock back in December when the deal was announced. US Steel said the future of this and other union-represented plants at the company are at risk unless it gets approval to be purchased by Nippon Steel. US Steel says it has more than 3,000 employees in the state in its remaining steel mills along the Monongahela River just outside of Pittsburgh. The union says it doesn’t believe in the promises made by Nippon Steel so far and that it remains opposed to the purchase.

Policymakers especially hone in on the core PCE measure, which excludes food and energy, when making interest rate decisions. "To me, it's going to be just one more piece of evidence to confirm that the Fed is seeing sustainable inflation readings at a sustainable pace," said Beth Ann Bovino, chief economist at U.S. Bank. Any slight upticks are "really just base-effect kinds of things that aren't going to change the Fed's view."
