He has encouraged the team to make a concerted effort to host his events at smaller, less costly venues, according to conversations with multiple Trump advisers. Mismatched and functional is the decor of the Trump campaigns’ offices,” a senior Trump adviser told CNN. And those figures don’t even include his mounting legal bills as he faces 91 charges in four criminal indictments. This fund, which reported raising $1.5 million through the end of last year, will continue to be utilized, Trump’s advisers say. But department stores, focused on America’s middle class, are fading. The victims of shifting consumer tastes were not the department stores that anchored the local mall, it was the small, locally owned stores along downtown shopping districts that were closing their doors. And possibly even more than the big box competitors, department stores have suffered from consumers shifting to buying items online rather than in person. The steady closing of the department stores that once served as “anchors” of malls across suburban America has been another nail in the coffin of many malls, hurting the department stores that remained in hollowed-out malls with a fraction of their earlier traffic. Saunders said one of the primary problem for Macy’s is that its holding company, formerly known as Federated Department Stores, spent much of its resources on buying other department store brands, such May’s Department Stores, and Filene’s, rather than investing in the stores its held.

While we’re waiting, here are takeaways from the GOP’s 2024 South Carolina presidential primary. She’d need to win New Hampshire, with its much more moderate electorate built in part on a slew of independents participating in the state’s GOP primary. Why do people keep uninsured money in banks?
  + stars: | 2024-02-12 | by ( Nicole Goodkind | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +10 min
Somehow, the same issue plaguing last year’s failed banks is back in focus at the latest bank in crisis: massive loads of uninsured deposits. To be sure, the risk isn’t anywhere close to that of the banks that failed last year: About 94% of domestic deposits at Silicon Valley Bank were uninsured and 90% of Signature Bank’s deposits were uninsured, according to the Federal Reserve. The money is guaranteed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, which is funded by fees paid by major US banks. About 40% of all money in the US, or $8 trillion, sitting in banks is uninsured, said Lawrence White, a professor at New York University’s Stern School of Business. “It also risks violating the FDIC’s statutory requirement to resolve failed banks and protect insured depositors in the least expensive way possible.”Sometimes, he said, rescuing those uninsured depositors may be the cheapest way to protect insured depositors at banks.

REUTERS/Brian Snyder/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNov 30 (Reuters) - AbbVie (ABBV.N) will buy ImmunoGen (IMGN.O) for $10.1 billion in cash, it said on Thursday, the latest major drugmaker to buy a developer of 'guided missile' cancer therapies as the company's top-seller Humira grapples with fierce competition. ImmunoGen's Elahere belongs to a new class of treatments called antibody-drug conjugates (ADC) that precisely targets cancer cells, potentially reducing toxicity for other cells. The drug, approved for ovarian cancer patients who have received previous therapies, is also being tested in earlier lines of treatment. AbbVie will also get access to Immunogen's follow-on pipeline of ADCs, including early-stage ovarian cancer candidate IMGN-151 and a mid-stage drug pivekimab sunirine for a rare type of blood cancer.
