The Montana Supreme Court on Wednesday affirmed a lower court ruling that temporarily blocked a state law prohibiting transition-related health care for minors. “Fortunately, the Montana Supreme Court understands the danger of the state interfering with critical healthcare,” Kell Olson, an attorney for Lambda Legal, said in a statement. The law also prohibits Medicaid from covering such treatments for trans minors. In upholding the injunction, Montana Supreme Court Justice Beth Baker wrote in the majority opinion that the Legislature “did not make gender-affirming care unlawful,” nor “did it make the treatments unlawful for all minors,” as minors can still receive the treatments for other reasons. It was not widely known that the man, who identified himself as Travis Timmerman and went missing in Hungary in May, was in Syria. CNN —The food you eat may be affecting your body’s ability to fight cancer cells in the colon, according to a new study. The potential culprit: an overabundance of certain omega-6 fatty acids — perhaps from ultraprocessed foods in your diet — that may hinder the anti-inflammatory and tumor-fighting properties of another essential fatty acid, omega-3. Linoleic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid that is found in corn, peanut, soybean, safflower and sunflower oils, is the most common omega-6 in the US food supply. “It’s a leap to say that omega-6s from ultraprocessed foods are the cause. Many ultraprocessed foods are made with soybean and other vegetable oils that contain higer levels of omega-6 fatty acids.
