CNN —If David Lynch’s 1984 “Dune” movie raced through the book, the second half of director Denis Villeneuve’s version at times moves as if it’s walking in sand, figuratively as well as literally. The technical wizardry, which earned the 2021 film six Oscars, certainly lends itself to big-screen consumption, and Warner Bros. (like CNN, a unit of Warner Bros. Other new players include Christopher Walken and Florence Pugh as the emperor and his daughter, Léa Seydoux, and briefly, Anya Taylor-Joy. Warner Bros. PicturesWith composer Hans Zimmer’s muscular score (and the overall sound) working overtime, Villeneuve is at his best when depicting the fascistic power of the Harkonnens and their sprawling military machine. “Dune” premieres March 1 in US theaters.

CNN —Celebrities, editors and designers are congregating in Paris this week for the hotly anticipated Spring-Summer 2024 collections at Haute Couture Fashion Week, which showcases the industry’s most elite and decadent looks — both on and off the catwalks. The week kicked off on Schiaparelli’s runway, and the stars were out in full force. Also in attendance, Jennifer Lopez commanded attention in an elaborate petaled white coat, paired with opulent surrealist-style gold eyebrow glasses and chunky golden jewelry. They were joined by Natalie Portman, Ali Wong and Elizabeth Debicki, among others, to take in the house’s latest Haute Couture collection. Earlier in the evening, Ms. Klum revealed her highly anticipated costume: a giant human peacock constructed with the help of 10 Cirque du Soleil acrobats. In a booth upstairs, the rapper Ice-T sat with his wife, Coco Austin, who was clad in fishnets. As she leaned over the back of the booth and chatted with some other guests, Ice-T snapped pictures of her. The club, filled with about 500 guests, was decorated for the holiday, with fun house mirrors lining the entryway and cobwebs draped from the ceiling. Across the room, the costumes were elaborate.

In lieu of a traditional ivory frock, Taylor-Joy opted for a blush-toned princess gown. Anya Taylor-Joy's custom Dior gown was a dusty rose color, decorated with intricate embroidered flowers and even a hummingbird. CNN —Nearly one month after “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” premiered with an impressive opening weekend at the box office, the animated film is expected to hit another major milestone. The movie is set to cross $1 billion at the global box office on Sunday, according to a news release from Universal, continuing to break box office records as it remains in the No. “Super Mario Bros.” will become the 10th animated film in history to cross $1 billion, making it the 10th biggest animated movie of all time globally, beating out the $942.5 million that “Minions: The Rise of the Gru” grossed in 2019. “Super Mario Bros.” surpassed Marvel’s “Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” at the time, which brought in $225.3 million globally during its February opening. “The Super Mario Bros.
