At first, I was a bit skeptical this was as big of a win for Warner Bros. Carriage fees for cable networks with many live NBA games and a popular studio show ("Inside the NBA") would typically rise. But, after doing a bit of digging, I've come to believe it's a little more of a win for Warner Bros. At first, I was a bit skeptical this was as big of a win for Warner Bros. Combs’ legal team dismissed the suit as a “shameless publicity stunt.”Here’s what we know about the litigation. The lawsuit was originally filed in October against Combs, and it was amended Sunday to include Carter as a defendant. Jay-Z and Sean Combs attend Puffy's Fourth of July Party at Sean Combs' House, in East Hampton, N.Y., on July 2, 2000. The plaintiff lay down in a room, the lawsuit says, and Combs and Carter entered. Jay-Z was named in an amended complaint to a lawsuit against Sean "Diddy" Combs, filed in October. Jay-Z's response to the rape accusations against him is missing something, according to one crisis-PR expert. The stars were only identified in the civil lawsuit as "Celebrity A" and "Celebrity B." He's "too big to cancel, and his brand is too strong to be destroyed by a civil lawsuit," Nierman said. "Jay-Z is not going to be defined by these allegations," Nierman said.

Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee, who filed the lawsuit against Carter and Combs, responded to Spiro’s motion in an interview Monday with NBC News. “Anyone that suggests that a demand letter, especially the one that I sent, is extortion or blackmail, is foolish,” Buzbee said. The lawsuit says the accuser managed to resist being forced to perform oral sex on Combs by hitting him in the neck. In the wake of the alleged assault, the suit says, the accuser “grabbed her clothes” and left. The lawsuit is filed under New York’s Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act.

And that enthusiasm translated to watching games outside the stadium, too. We have more people watching our games," Garber said. Yet the soccer commissioner said he's exceedingly happy with the relationship, noting that Apple gives MLS the platform to make every single game a national game. Gray Media , owner of local TV stations and digital assets serving 113 TV markets? The bearish sentiment on the industry has been pretty straightforward: as more people cancel traditional pay TV, fewer households watch broadcast TV, opting instead for streaming services like Netflix and Disney+. Additionally, the Federal Communications Commission mandates the total number of TV stations owned by any company can cover a maximum of 39% of the U.S. Tegna now owns local rights for the WNBA's Indiana Fever and the NHL's Seattle Kraken. Next fall, when ESPN launches its yet-to-be-named "flagship" service, those subscribers will get full access to all ESPN content through the ESPN tile on Disney+. Disney is making about 100 live games available to Disney+ members without a corresponding ESPN subscription. Some ESPN sports-related films and documentaries will also appear on Disney+ married to whatever sports season is active, Pitaro said. Morgan Stanley said Black Friday traffic provided further evidence that some retail names are outperforming their peers. Equity analyst Alex Straton said Black Friday proved to be a "powerful demand catalyst" as shoppers searched for the best deals online and in store. However, the analyst does have an idea of what stocks are currently on the top performers list from the softline retail cohort. Straton called Lululemon the "clear winner" within sportswear. Investors should be discerning when thinking about these retail winners and losers as stock plays.

In today’s edition, senior politics reporter Alex Seitz-Wald breaks down the long-standing Democratic truisms that were challenged by the results of the 2024 elections. Here are five of the party’s core assumptions that have been challenged by the 2024 election outcome:1. Higher turnout benefits Democrats: Democrats have long taken for granted a simple truism: The more people who vote, the better for Democrats. NBC News exit polls show Trump won voters without college degrees 56%-42%, while he narrowly won voters with family incomes of $30,000 to $100,000 annually. But Trump won both the Electoral College and popular vote this year as Harris’ performance fell in those Democratic bastions.

The Democratic National Committee will elect a new chairman on Feb. 1, the party announced Monday, as it reels from President-Elect Donal Trump’s victory earlier this month. That includes Wisconsin State Party Chair Ben Wikler, who is set to announce a decision right after Thanksgiving, a person with knowledge of his thinking said. The timeline will be more compressed than the last time the party elected a new chair after losing the White House, in 2017, when the election was held on Feb. 25. The Feb. 1 date will allow Democrats to have a new chair in place shortly after Trump’s Inauguration on Jan. 20 and at the start of his administration. But when Republicans are in power, the DNC chair election becomes a wide open contest for a range of candidates to put forth competing visions for the party and the role of the chair.
