“If you could find us,“ she asked, “why didn’t they?”Do you have a story to share about the use of unclaimed bodies for research? Dr. Douglas Hampers, the CEO of National Bioskills Laboratories — which had leased Honey’s torso — said he was disturbed to learn his company had received unclaimed bodies. He said his company would ensure that it no longer accepted unclaimed bodies and would adopt policies to make certain future specimens were donated with families’ permission. To curb this ghastly 19th-century practice, states adopted laws giving schools authority to use unclaimed bodies for student training and experiments. Each of the 44 that answered said they don’t use unclaimed bodies — and some condemned doing so.

News of an apparent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump has taken China’s heavily censored social media by storm, prompting conspiracy theories and a mockery of the U.S. political landscape. As the news spread to China on Monday, discussions concerning the incident were trending on the popular Chinese social media platform Weibo, with netizens pointing out how Trump had just recently escaped an attempt on his life at a campaign rally on July 13. Other outlandish conspiracy theories proliferated on the platform, mentioning religious groups. Separate from the conspiracy theories, many netizens theorized that Trump stood to benefit from the incident. In a fundraising email shortly after the incident, Trump said he was safe and in good spirits.

Apple shares were down 3% on Monday, leading a drop in the wider tech sector. The slide came after analyst Ming-Chi Kuo warned of light iPhone 16 demand. The lack of demand for the newest iPhone is likely because Apple has yet to roll out its most anticipated new feature, Apple Intelligence, Kuo said. Advertisement"One of the key factors for the lower-than-expected demand for the iPhone 16 Pro series is that the major selling point, Apple Intelligence, is not available at launch alongside the iPhone 16 release," Kuo said in a Sunday note. "In that case, I believe that Apple will implement more aggressive iPhone product strategies in 2025 to stimulate market demand," Kuo said.

The negotiations over the Special Measures Agreement, known as the SMA, strained the US-South Korea alliance during the Trump administration. Former President Donald Trump demanded Seoul pay up to 400% more for the presence of the 28,500 US troops in the country during negotiations over the current agreement. Under the current agreement, South Korea pays about $1 billion annually, representing an increase of about 13.9% over previous SMAs. Earlier this year, Trump said that he did not think the South Korea is paying enough based on the last agreement. One complication is that a deal will have to be approved by South Korea’s national assembly — which is dominated by the opposition party to South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol.

Apple is no longer the growth company it once was despite still being a great income generator, according to New York University's Aswath Damodaran. Apple shares slid Monday following reports of softer demand for the tech giant's new iPhone 16 model, after first-weekend orders for the phone unveiled just last week were shown to be down on a year-over-year basis. AAPL 1D mountain Apple The "Dean of Valuation" expects Apple to continue to face challenges in its services business as it struggles to keep pace with sales of iPhones. Still, the finance professor said Apple shares, which are higher by more than 12% this year, are reasonably priced. While the Fed doesn’t directly set mortgage rates, its actions affect borrowing costs throughout the economy. The most apparent effect: An interest rate cut could help ease the upward pressure on mortgage rates, making one piece of the homebuying equation more affordable. Most investors are betting that the Fed will cut its benchmark interest rate by just a quarter-point on Wednesday. Some financial advisers counsel to wait until you can get a mortgage rate that is a full percentage point below the rate you’re already paying, said Fairweather. “If you got a 7.5% mortgage rate, you may already be in the money to refinance,” she said.

Edwards, who was the BBC’s highest-paid journalist, pleaded guilty in July to having 41 indecent images of children. The adult man who sent Edwards the images is a convicted pedophile, the court heard on Monday.
