Abu Dhabi's state-owned oil firm ADNOC on Tuesday said it has agreed to buy German chemicals firm Covestro for 14.7 billion euros ($16.4 billion). The deal represents an enterprise value of 14.7 billion euros, ADNOC said in a separate statement. "As a global leader and industrial pioneer in chemicals, Covestro brings unmatched expertise in high-tech specialty chemicals and materials, using advanced technologies including AI," said Sultan Ahmed al-Jaber, group CEO and managing director of ADNOC. As part of the deal, ADNOC also signed an investment agreement in which it pledged to provide additional funding by buying 1.17 billion euros worth of new shares of Covestro from a capital increase. Earlier this year the UAE oil giant closed a deal acquiring a 24.9% stake in Austrian chemicals firm OMV.

Hungary offers citizenship based on jus sanguinis with some caveats, too. “When both of my parents got their Hungarian citizenship around four years ago, it made it easier for me to get it,” said Koszorus, 41, who received his Hungarian citizenship this summer, less than a year after he started the paperwork and application process. And a private Facebook group called Dual US-Italian Citizenship has more than 70,000 members and is among many other resources available to people who think they might have a blood right path to Italian citizenship. But there’s also another motivation increasingly present — the desire to see the glaciers before they disappear. In Alaska, Sheldon used to be able to find a good area for ice climbing for the whole summer. Many are convinced danger is manageable, he told CNN, but “if you’re honest about it, that might often be a rather naive understanding.”As well the safety issues glaciers pose tourists, tourists are also a huge risk to the glaciers themselves. As the glaciers shift, so too will glacier tourism, something that’s starkly clear to Sheldon.

Rivers overflowed from Poland to Romania, where four people were found dead on Saturday, after days of torrential rain in a low-pressure system named Boris. Some parts of the Czech Republic and Poland faced the worst flooding in almost three decades as towns evacuated thousands. That surpassed a record seen in heavy flooding in 1997, which partly damaged the town and claimed 56 lives in Poland. In Romania, authorities said the rain was less intense than on Saturday, when flooding killed four and damaged 5,000 homes.
