In a Wednesday interview with CNBC's Jim Cramer, T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert said his company was seeing more sales of the iPhone 16 than last year's series of the smartphones. "Not only good, but better than last year, and people are buying Pros, they're buying Maxs, so they're buying up the food chain, and they're buying at a greater rate than last year." Apple is set to release the iPhone16 in stores on Friday, widely touted for its new artificial intelligence capabilities. But according to Sievert, the iPhone16 is in demand, although the delay may lengthen the buying cycle. Sievert also reviewed announcements the company made at a conference it held on Wednesday.

Google wins challenge against $1.7 billion EU antitrust fine

Google won a legal challenge Wednesday against a €1.49 billion ($1.66 billion) antitrust fine from the European Union, while chipmaker Qualcomm failed to repeal a penalty. She scored two major wins last week: against Google in a separate case and against Apple’s tax deal with Irish authorities. The AdSense fine, one of a trio of fines that have cost Google a total of €8.25 billion ($9.18 billion), was triggered by a complaint from Microsoft in 2010. In Qualcomm’s case, the US chipmaker only managed to convince the General Court to trim its EU antitrust fine to €238.7 million from €242 million. Qualcomm, which can appeal to the European Court of Justice on points of law, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Concerns about iPhone 16 lead times could send Apple shares lower in the near term, according to Morgan Stanley. This has led to the stock underperforming by an average of five points in the three months following an iPhone launch. "What will matter most over the next 10 days is the trajectory of iPhone 16 lead times, as historically iPhone lead times elongate through the first in-store availability date (Friday, September 20th) before gradually trending lower in the weeks thereafter," the analyst wrote in a Wednesday note to clients. "Therefore, a more sustained elongation in iPhone 16 lead times from today should be viewed positively, while a sharp reversal in iPhone 16 lead times after Friday would likely indicate a greater risk of negative iPhone build revisions." With 48 analysts covering the stock, 36 of them have a strong buy or buy rating, while 11 are neutral.

GLAAD, the LGBTQ media advocacy organization, has released its 12th annual Studio Responsibility Index tracking films released during 2023. Despite “a huge increase in LGBTQ characters who were front and center in their own narratives,” the study found the number of films with LGBTQ characters dropped in 2023. The survey looked at 256 films from 10 major distributors and their subsidiaries and streaming services. Those 70 films included 170 LGBTQ characters, of which 46% were characters of color, representing an increase of 6% from the 2022 study. If LGBTQ representation continues to decline in major releases, these companies will lose relevance with a crucial buying audience.

Mistake 1: Taking photos at the wrong timeJon Carmichael captured the moon during a lunar eclipse. The silver lining is you can get better detail because you're shooting through less atmosphere and the photos will be clearer. Taking photos closer to sunset gives you more lighting compared to later at night, which will make taking a cellphone picture easier.
