Even in a campaign in which Mr. Trump’s dominance has sapped the race of much of its drama, his win in Nevada felt particularly preordained. Embarrassingly for Ms. Haley, she was heavily outvoted in that election by a “None of These Candidates” option on the ballot. She was essentially unopposed, but even without Mr. Trump on the ballot, Republican voters rejected her. Ms. Haley still won the contest, but its results were effectively immaterial. Mr. McDonald also repeatedly pushed false claims of voter fraud that remain at the heart of Mr. Trump’s lie that the 2020 election was stolen from him.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Donald Trump is expected to sweep Nevada’s GOP caucuses on Thursday, which would give the former president a third straight win in the Republican presidential race and display his dominance over the Republican Party. His last major Republican challenger, former U.N. The state GOP required candidates to choose running either in the caucuses or the primary. Trump is the only major candidate left in the caucuses and expected to win all 26 of Nevada's Republican delegates. Trump visited Nevada last month and is expected to return to the state Thursday to celebrate his victory.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Donald Trump amassed another win at a Republican caucus held Thursday in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where officials flouted several GOP party rules, including holding the contest earlier than allowed. The caucus is the third Republican contest held this election season with delegates at stake, with Trump receiving 73.98% of the votes and Nikki Haley 26.02%. In addition, any contest held before March 15 must award delegates proportionally, while the U.S. Virgin Islands did so via ranked-choice voting. “The Virgin Islands didn’t break any rules,” Ackley said. However, the Republican National Committee has said the U.S. Virgin Islands has four delegates.

“I say the general election begins tonight,” said Trump-adversary-turned-advocate Vivek Ramaswamy, who was standing at the former president’s side during his New Hampshire victory speech. Both Biden and Trump have loud detractors within their parties and glaring political liabilities. The earliest either Trump or Biden could clinch enough delegates to become his party's presumptive nominee is March. Haley beat Trump on Tuesday among Republican primary voters who identified as either moderates or independents, according to AP VoteCast, a survey of the electorate. About half of the state's Republican primary voters also said they are very or somewhat concerned that Trump is too extreme to win the general election.

All were found to be within U.S. federal standards, said Don Gregoire, water director for St. Croix. Despite those findings, people on St. Croix remain concerned. At least 1,270 people on St. Croix have been screened. Authorities plan to extend the screening to the islands of St. Thomas and St. John by the end of January, said Reuben Molloy, acting commissioner for the U.S. Virgin Islands Health Department. On Thursday, officials will start distributing free water filters as they continue to test water samples taken from homes and businesses across St. Croix.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — A group of residents have sued a public utility company in the U.S. Virgin Islands after authorities there reported finding high levels of lead and copper in the tap water on St. Croix. He said the agency acted swiftly and transparently after the test results became available and that officials are still working to improve water quality in St. Croix. “What people are looking for is justice.”The investigation into the state of tap water in St. Croix began in late September, following complaints of reddish-brown water on the island of more than 50,600 people. In late October, the local government announced that officials found high levels of lead and copper and warned people not to drink their tap water. She also criticized the government for announcing a couple of weeks ago that lead levels were low or undetectable at samples taken from various schools across St. Croix.

On the Caribbean island of St. Croix, officials avoided some of those pitfalls and quickly told residents of the results. For lead testing, workers usually take water from a household faucet. It is some of these tests that first recorded astronomically high lead levels. Instead, it's brass fittings that contain lead and can corrode into the water, Smith said.

The settlement covered more than 100 women, led by a former ballet dancer known as Jane Doe 1, who said Epstein abused them. It followed embarrassing disclosures that JPMorgan ignored internal warnings and overlooked red flags about Epstein because he had been a valuable client. JPMorgan in September agreed to pay $75 million to settle related claims by the U.S. Virgin Islands, where Epstein owned two islands. Rakoff on Oct. 20 gave final approval to a similar $75 million settlement between Epstein's accusers and Deutsche Bank (DBKGn.DE), where Epstein banked after JPMorgan fired him. But in email messages, Staley described Epstein as one of his “deepest” and “most cherished” friends, according to the regulator. The FCA’s decision is provisional and Staley, who has previously said he “deeply regrets” his relationship with Epstein, can appeal at an ensuing tribunal. Barclays said that following the FCA’s decision, Staley was ineligible for, or would forfeit, bonuses and share awards totaling 17.8 million pounds (21.9 million). Staley has said that he had no contact with Epstein once he joined Barclays in December 2015. JP Morgan also reached a confidential settlement with Staley, who it had sued for allegedly concealing his personal activities with Epstein from the bank.

Oct 12 (Reuters) - A single-ticket holder from California was the sole winner of an estimated $1.77 billion Powerball drawing on Wednesday night, in the second-largest lottery jackpot in history, the lottery game's website said early Thursday. DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The Powerball jackpot has climbed to an estimated $1.55 billion for Monday night's drawing after no one matched the game’s six numbers for the giant prize Saturday. The $1.55 billion prize is for a sole winner who is paid through an annuity, with annual checks over 30 years. Most jackpot winners opt for cash, which would be an estimated $679.8 million. The largest U.S. jackpot ever was a $2.04 billion Powerball prize hit by a player in California in November 2022. The scarcity of Powerball jackpot winners reflects the game’s long odds of 1 in 292.2 million, which are designed to make winning rare so that grand prizes can grow huge.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — An estimated $1.4 billion Powerball jackpot that has been growing since July will be on the line Saturday night. The jackpot is the world’s fifth-largest lottery prize after rolling over for 33 consecutive drawings, since the last time someone claimed the top prize on July 19. The scarcity of Powerball jackpot winners reflects the game’s daunting odds of 1 in 292.2 million. The $1.4 billion prize is for a sole winner who is paid through an annuity, with annual checks over 30 years. Most jackpot winners opt for cash, which for Saturday night’s drawing would be an estimated $614 million.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — An estimated $1.04 billion Powerball jackpot will be up for grabs Monday night, tempting players to spend a couple dollars on a longshot chance at instant riches. The prize is the world's ninth-largest lottery prize behind earlier drawings of Powerball and Mega Millions, the other nearly nationwide lottery game. That losing streak reflects the stunningly long odds of winning the jackpot, at 1 in 292.2 million. The $1.04 billion jackpot is for a sole winner who chooses to receive the winnings through an annuity, paid annually over 30 years. Powerball is played in 45 states as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The numbers were drawn Saturday night for an estimated $960 million Powerball jackpot and players across the country are waiting to see if there’s a big winner. The $960 million jackpot is for a sole winner who opts for payment through an annuity, doled out over 30 years. The jackpot has grown so large because there have been 29 consecutive drawings without a big winner, dating back to July 19. The largest jackpot was a $2.04 billion Powerball prize hit by a player in California in November 2022. In most states, a Powerball ticket costs $2 and players can select their own numbers or leave the task to a computer.
