Oran Alexander Routh was charged in federal court Monday with one count of receipt of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography. The criminal complaint filed against Oran Routh states that his North Carolina home was searched in connection to an unrelated case. The complaint also said investigators found a messaging app on the phone that is "commonly used by individuals who distribute and receive child pornography." Court records show that Oran Routh is in federal custody.

Former President Donald Trump plans to return to Butler, Pennsylvania, where he faced an assassination attempt in July, for a rally next month, according to three sources familiar with the campaign’s schedule. Trump has long teased a return to the town where he was shot in the ear during an assassination attempt on July 13. It was not immediately clear whether the Oct. 5 rally will take place at the same venue in Butler. The gunman from the assassination attempt, identified as Thomas Crooks, was shot and killed by law enforcement on July 13. Trump was targeted in a second apparent assassination attempt in West Palm Beach this month when shots were fired near the former president's golf course where he was playing.

CNN —Almost three decades ago, Richard Hays, a United Methodist minister and the soon-to-be dean of Duke Divinity School, wrote what quickly became the go-to traditionalist Christian argument against same-sex marriage. Fuller Theological Seminary, where Christopher Hays is a professor, also demands agreement with a faith statement that opposes same-sex marriage. Even as support for same-sex marriage has plateaued in the last few years, recent surveys from Gallup find that more than one in five Gen Z Americans identify as LGBTQ, and nearly 90% of Americans under 30 years old support same-sex marriage. The reversal from Hays certainly will not settle the debate among Christians when it comes from same-sex marriage. But I hope it makes opponents of same-sex marriage at least pause and wonder — is there a faithful path forward that makes room for people like me?
