The latest financial results and commentary from the world's biggest third-party chipmaker gave a big boost Thursday to Apple and semiconductor stocks, including artificial intelligence leader Nvidia . Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company , whose customers include the likes of Apple, Nvidia and fellow Club stock Broadcom , said its fourth-quarter revenue from smartphone chips grew a better-than-expected 27% on a quarterly basis. "Let's not overthink it: Apple and Nvidia are the two that are most obvious" beneficiaries from TSMC's results, Jim Cramer said Thursday. Previously, TSMC had said AI chips were on track to become a "low teens" percentage of its revenue. TSMC's results and guidance Thursday offer so-called "read-throughs" on its customers, many of which are Club stocks such as Apple, Nvidia and Broadcom.

Wall Street analysts are saying it's a great time to invest in two of our favorite industrial-focused stocks: Honeywell and Linde . Morgan Stanley on Monday raised its price target and kept its buy-equivalent rating on industrial gas and engineering firm Linde. As for Linde, Jim has long touted the stock as the Club's favorite way to invest in the global transition to clean energy. On Dec 1, we increased our Club price target on Linde to $440 per share from $410. The Club's price target is $225, reflecting about a 12.5% premium to where the stock traded Monday afternoon.

LIN YTD mountain Linde YTD Bottom line Industrial gas giant Linde (LIN) delivered the kind of quarter we've come to expect: Double-digit earnings growth and a lift to its profit guidance. While the top-line sales figure was light, Linde's strong operating margin expansion in the quarter more than made up for it. In good economic times and bad, Linde's model of continued margin expansion with project growth has enabled earnings per share growth of at least 10% annually. That means the current backlog of $4.5 billion should be worth a few percentage points of earnings growth next year. Linde sees fourth-quarter earnings per share falling to between $3.38 and $3.48, compared with the $3.46 consensus estimate from analysts.

Quarterly earnings reports for our industrial stocks begin this week amid an uncertain operating environment. HON YTD mountain Honeywell (HON) year-to-date performance Honeywell and Linde are the first two of the group to report — on Thursday before the bell. Linde has beat and raised for 18 consecutive quarters, and history is likely to repeat itself when the industrial gas company reports. EMR YTD mountain Emerson Electric (EMR) year-to-date performance Emerson Electric is the last of our industrial names to report, on Nov. 7 before the opening bell.

A select group of our Club holdings have recently demonstrated durable pricing power to protect profits during what continues to be a high inflation environment. For companies, elevated inflation means higher input costs — higher costs on the goods and services required to run their businesses. In a recent note, UBS acknowledged, "Inflation may trend back toward the Fed's target sooner than expected reducing the relative advantage of companies with pricing power." In fact, UBS believes that "companies with pricing power have the potential to outperform the broader market in the months ahead." Microsoft's pricing power comes down to the simple fact that they have positioned themselves as a core backbone of global productivity.

Sales in of $8.204 billion were down 3% from last year and missed estimates of $8.676 billion compiled by Refintiv. Bottom line Linde continues to operate at a high level, no matter the twists and turns in the global economy. It's not unusual for a company's stock price to soar — or sink — on news of a CEO shakeup. So, CEOs matter when picking stocks — and at the Club, these are the five things we look for when evaluating the leaders of our holdings. A stock's day-to-day and even month-to-month performance may not truly reflect how well a CEO is leading a company. Trust has value, and the stocks of companies led by reputable CEOs with competent management teams can trade at premium valuations. Shortly after the opening bell Friday, we'll be selling 15 shares of Linde (LIN), at roughly $376.77 each. Following the trade, Jim Cramer's Charitable Trust will own 190 shares of Linde, decreasing its weighting in the portfolio to 2.54%, from 2.73%. We're booking profits in industrial gas giant Linde Friday morning, consistent with our discipline of raising cash whenever the market is overbought, according to the S & P 500 Short Range Oscillator . But at a minimum, we think an overbought Oscillator serves as a reminder that stocks have had a solid run lately and could be due for a break.
