But you’re not going to let three or four go.”Inside the House GOP, many lawmakers and senior aides have long assumed Stefanik would go to the Cabinet. She and Texas Rep. Marco Rubio as his secretary of state, two people familiar with his thinking told CNN, as he rounds out his national security team in a second term. Given his deep foreign policy experience and that he sits on both the Senate Intelligence Committee and the Foreign Relations Committee, the State Department seemed like a good fit for Rubio. The Florida senator, a China hawk and finalist for Trump’s VP, was a constant on the campaign trail during Trump’s third presidential run. CNN —Three of the astronauts who were unexpectedly hospitalized after returning from the International Space Station in late October are set to discuss their mission during a NASA news conference. NASA astronauts Michael Barratt, Matthew Dominick, and Jeanette Epps are expected to field questions. President-elect Donald Trump on Thursday named co-campaign chair Susie Wiles as his White House first chief of staff, one of the most important non-elected posts in Washington. “Susie Wiles just helped me achieve one of the greatest political victories in American history, and was an integral part of both my 2016 and 2020 successful campaigns,” Trump said in a statement Thursday. After Trump’s resounding victory Tuesday over Vice President Kamala Harris, there was an overwhelming sense that Wiles was the frontrunner to be White House chief of staff. “I’m told you know something about Florida,” Trump told Wiles when they first spoke on the phone, NBC News reported in March. Response to Wiles’ hire as chief of staff was overwhelmingly positive from Republicans.

In NBC News’ early October national survey, just 4% of registered voters said they didn’t want to make a choice between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. One said they plan to vote for Trump, another that they are likely to vote for Harris, and another plans to not vote at all. How anyone could still be undecided a week out from a critical election can be difficult to fathom for supporters of either Trump or Harris. Eric Bush, a systems administrator from Florida, said he’s waiting until he is in the voting booth to make his final choice. But he is still weighing backing Harris, acknowledging a vote for Harris could lead to bigger-government policies that could help others.
