advisor took inspiration from Austin Powers as Russia prepared its invasion, Politico said. The situation reminded him of a scene in the cult comedy movie where a steamroller moves forward. He said in November 2021, he had been discussing a scene in the 1997 spy comedy "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery," with Deputy National Security Advisor Jonathan Finer. Sullivan said that he and other top national security officials settled on the unprecedented strategy of declassifying US intelligence about Russia's plans. Some employees are "career cushioning" to protect themselves in case they are made redundant. "They're using 'career cushioning' as an insurance policy to set themselves up for success should they need to in the future." In professional life, "career cushioning" means workers will start to look for other jobs while still in their current roles. Cushioning not only gives employees professional security but can also soften the emotional blow of being laid off. For a lot of people, career cushioning is an exercise in building confidence, LinkedIn's Davies said.

Cushioning not only gives employees professional security but can also soften the emotional blow of being laid off. ECHO CHAMBER Intrepid visitors in Riverbend Cave, one of several caves you can explore at Vancouver Island’s Horne Lake Caves Provincial Park. WE WERE about 120 feet from the mouth of one of the caves in British Columbia’s Horne Lake Caves Provincial Parks when Ryan Nelson, our 29-year-old guide, suggested we find a stable perch on the water-slicked rocks beneath our feet. “In every cave,” Ryan told us, “you have the entrance zone, the twilight zone, and a zone where no light at all penetrates during a complete 24-hour cycle. Now, turn your lights off.” Desmond, my son, and I obeyed, flicking switches on our helmets. Suddenly there was nothing left in the world but the sound of a subterranean river rushing through limestone.

Discovery abruptly axed, then reinstated, its longstanding TV writers' training program. Numerous TV writers told Insider they would not have been able to establish their careers without the TV workshop. The WBTV workshops not only developed emerging talents, but also helped ease their way into paid work in Hollywood. But even with Zaslav examining every asset across the company to find a promised $3 billion in synergies, the WBTV writers' and directors' workshops seemed unlikely targets. "The training is just phenomenal," a third alum of the writers' workshop told Insider.
