If this week's presidential election has you nervously eyeing your finances, you're not alone. Consider research published earlier this year from Carson Research Group, which tracked the performance of the S&P 500 under every presidency since 1953. If you followed the same strategy, but only invested with Democrats, you'd have about $60,000. "If you got out of the market because you didn't like the person who was in office, you gave up some really great gains," says Ryan Detrick, chief market strategist at the Carson Group. "However, the anxiety and fear that's coming from it — it's still worth thinking about addressing that directly."

When Kobe Harris started his lip balm company on his bedroom floor in 2019, he wasn't necessarily looking to immediately drop out of college. Then, he sold $15,000 worth of lip balm in one day, and decided to take the leap, Harris said on Friday's episode of ABC's "Shark Tank." He asked his mom for $200 to purchase some ingredients on Amazon, and used them to experiment with lip balm formulas on his bedroom floor at home while working a summer lifeguarding job, he added. It's the advice Harris' mom, a multi-time business owner, gave him when he told her he wanted to drop out of college to make lip balm, he said. Critics have said that school choice puts public education at risk by diverting funds away from public schools and that some school choice initiatives have disproportionately helped wealthier families. Colorado's Amendment 80 establishes a constitutionally protected right to school choice for children from kindergarten through 12th grade. If the law is repealed, it would get rid of the state's school choice program. Related storiesIf the state ballot initiatives pass, they would build on the existing school choice programs across the country. Arizona added to the momentum by creating the first universal voucher program in 2022, and nearly 30 states have some form of a school choice program.

LONDON British telecom firms Vodafone and Three's multibillion-pound merger could go ahead if the companies adopt a series of proposed remedies to clear competition concerns, regulators said Tuesday. Vodafone has previously said that the combined entity, once merged, would invest £11 billion ($14.46 billion) into U.K. telecommunications infrastructure. Vodafone has also said it disagrees with earlier findings from the CMA that the merger would lead to price increases for consumers. It says the merger wouldn't pricing strategy and would enhance competition between mobile virtual network operators, or MVNOs. We pay 37% taxes on our income up to $190,000 (Australian dollars) and 45% on anything over that. Housing prices are very high, but we don't pay property taxI paid over one million for a three-bedroom, two-bathroom house that's about 15 minutes outside the city. One benefit is that we don't pay property taxes. I figure if we stay here for five years, we'll break even on the amount we would have paid in property tax in the US. Plus, it's predictable — we own the home without worrying about rising property tax rates.

Four years later, McBride became the first transgender person to address a national party convention, when she spoke at the 2016 Democratic National Convention. Janet Boudreau, who owned the election supply business Intab, designed an "I Voted" sticker in 1987. In recent years, some states have held "I Voted" sticker design contests with unusual winners. One of the earliest mentions of "I Voted" stickers dates back to a 1982 Miami Herald article about discounts offered to customers wearing the stickers, Time magazine reported. Even so, stickers were rarely given out on Election Day until 1987, when Boudreau took over Intab, her father's election supply business then based in Seattle. "I Voted" stickers.

All else being equal, 74% of parents said they would move their children to a different school if it offered financial education and investment courses. SIFMA with Wakefield Research polled 1,000 U.S. parents of students in grades K-12. Getting your child hands-on experience with investing is also a smart strategy, advisors say.
