The timeline and parameters of Israel’s retaliation against Iran have been subject to intense debate inside Israel’s government and are not directly related to the timing of the US election, the sources said. President Joe Biden, and by extension Vice President Kamala Harris, have faced pressure from progressives for their handling of the situation. In a telephone conversation last week, Biden and Netanyahu held a “direct” conversation about the plans for responding to Iran, according to the White House. American officials were extraordinarily tight-tipped about the two leaders’ conversation. Some American officials have privately speculated the Israeli leader is looking to boost Trump in the weeks ahead of November’s election.

What are some strengths that Kamala Harris brings to the table, even if you aren’t voting for her? What are some strengths that Kamala Harris brings to the table, even if you aren’t voting for her? At the same time, half of them said it was important that America have a female president in the next decade, and a few praised Kamala Harris. The women who liked Mr. Trump said they trusted him more on the economy and inflation and were skeptical that costs would go down under Ms. Harris because they blamed the Biden-Harris administration for the state of the economy now. In such a polarized election, we were struck that one woman had switched from Mr. Trump to Ms. Harris and another seemed to be leaning that way.

Archaeologists found 50 Viking-era skeletons in Åsum, Denmark. Dating back to the 9th or 10th century, the graves are evidence of international trade. The area's growth was influenced by these trade routes and its proximity to the sea. They had no idea they were standing on the well-preserved graves of 50 Viking-era skeletons. "As we suspected, the graves tell us a story of people connected to the international trade routes," Borre Lundø told Business Insider via email.

Duolingo CEO Luis von Ahn talked about his data-driven approach to "founder mode." A debate over founder mode was recently sparked by Paul Graham's essay advocating hands-on leadership. AdvertisementAmid the wider debate in Silicon Valley about how a CEO should run their company, Duolingo's chief executive is siding with a data-driven approach to founder mode. "Yes, I am in that mode, but we have a number of people who could probably play that role as well," von Ahn said when asked about founder mode. While this my-way-or-the-highway approach feels very indicative of founder mode, arguments rarely happen between the three executives, von Ahn said in the interview.

Jorge Argota, 35, runs his own digital marketing agency in Miami and made about $120,000 last year. For me, renting an apartment in Miami is more affordable than buying a nice house with a $3,000 or $4,000 mortgage. Argota and his brother pay $2,300 a month for a two-bedroom in this Miami apartment complex. I've also had many friends who have had to move further north in Florida because it's impossible for them to pay rent or buy a home in Miami. So, if I can't buy a house in Miami, I might consider moving to another state.

As she steps up her appeals to Black voters, Vice President Kamala Harris appeared on a popular Black radio program Tuesday, saying she is still open to slavery reparations and slamming former President Donald Trump for allegedly sending Covid tests to Russia “when Black people were dying” back home. Drawing on a new book by famed journalist Bob Woodward, Harris slammed Trump for reportedly sending Covid-19 testing devices to Putin when the machines were in short supply back home. Harris also stood by her early support for studying the idea of slavery reparations, which she embraced during her first presidential run in 2019. But when she was asked directly Tuesday, Harris responded: “On the point of reparations, it has to be studied. County election boards in Georgia are not allowed to refuse to certify election results, a state judge ruled on Tuesday. “If election superintendents were, as Plaintiff urges, free to play investigator, prosecutor, jury, and judge and so -- because of a unilateral determination of error or fraud -- refuse to certify election results, Georgia voters would be silenced. McBurney said the law was clear when it says that county officials "shall" certify the results. She is one of a growing number of Georgia officials who have refused to certify election results since 2020, worrying election experts that county officials might try and block the routine certification of election results in the name of baseless conspiracy theories. Adding to these concerns, the Republican-controlled Georgia State Election Board voted earlier this year to allow local boards to conduct “reasonable inquiry” into election results.

Americans are more eager to vote early than they were before the pandemic, but a deep partisan divide on early voting remains, the latest national NBC News poll shows. Another 47% said they plan to vote early (20% by mail and 27% in person). Overall, 52% of voters said they're planning to cast their ballots early this year, with 44% planning to vote in person on Election Day. (By late October, the share of people saying they'd vote early had risen to 68%.) The partisan divide between those voting early and on Election Day remains stark, after years of former President Donald Trump and his Republican allies attacking the legitimacy of early voting.
