Cryptic intelligence reports this week of Russia building an unspecified nuclear space weapon stoked fear among Americans who worried escalating nuclear threats could mean global catastrophe is near. Experts on space security and the risks posed by nuclear weapons told Business Insider that rumors of Russia creating such a weapon are likely true but that it's not time to panic just yet. NPR reported the White House confirmed that Russia is working on a weapon that could threaten satellites in space but that nothing has been deployed. However, Russia has been developing anti-satellite weapons for years, John Erath, senior policy director at the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation, told BI. But that's where this gets a little bit complicated because a nuclear weapon isn't really that."

We have tried almost every single way to approach gun violence in a way that people will pay attention. There have been 50 mass shootings in the United States so far this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive. Brett Cross says he's unfazed by critics who are against the use of AI-generated voices of children killed by gun violence. But earlier this month, it announced that robocall scams using AI-generated voices are a violation of telecommunications law. He says some parents who’ve lost children to gun violence were reluctant to take part in the project.

Ukraine's military has chosen a defensive strategy that echoes the German approach from WWII. AdvertisementAnswering that question first requires defining “active defense,” one of those broad military terms that mean different things to different people. Active defense is meant to be waged by large units, while Ukraine appears to conducting small-unit operations. “Active defense was understood to be generally applicable to divisions, corps and field armies,” Nash said. Even a limited ‘active defense’ needs all of these elements, too.”Last summer, Ukraine’s frontal assault with vehicles hit mines and were menaced by missiles fired from Russian helicopters.

We were surprised by how similar our experiences were but noticed a few key differences. Business Insider reporters located in the UK and the US compared popular Burger King menu items, restaurant designs, and the overall experience. For instance, she found there was a lot more lettuce on the UK Whopper and chicken sandwich compared to her spicy bean burger. She also thought the Whopper and spicy bean burger were lacking in sauce, to the point where she could barely taste it. Despite a few differences, we both enjoyed our experiences at Burger King and can see why the chain has expanded across the globe.

It's deadly — especially for anyone attempting to walk or bike the city streets. More people are killed in traffic accidents in LA than in any other city in the US — and things are headed in the wrong direction. A billboard on Vermont Avenue — a 23-mile long north-south thoroughfare — blasts a chilling statistic: more pedestrians were killed on that road than in the state of Vermont in 2022. What I got wrong about loyalty at work

In the story, I wrote that people seem to divide into two groups when it comes to the decline of workplace loyalty . To my surprise, a lot of older readers took issue with getting lumped into the pro-loyalty camp. Someone else wrote, more gently, "While I feel you're spot on with most of your facts you've got gen x all wrong." They added: "My generation leads in workplace dissatisfaction and realized 2 decades ago that there was no more corporate loyalty." There isn't a generational divide over workplace loyalty, these readers were telling me.

I'm a native New Yorker who attended Oxford for my undergraduate studies in the early 2000s. I didn't seriously expect to meet, date, kiss, or marry Prince William, though I'm confident my mother hoped I might. I'd started Oxford late — after a few semesters in a liberal arts college in the US — so I was a couple of years older than him when we met. It sounds dramatic to relocate your life on a whim, but I'd stopped trusting in stability after my mother died. It's 16 years later, and I'm still living in London with my now-husband, Will, and I have zero regrets.

The complaint says Boeing's contract with Astech was "lopsided" and leading it into bankruptcy because the pricing didn't even cover manufacturing costs. Caldwell, Idaho CNN —Jen and John Adkins never expected to have to send a package like this. Idaho’s abortion laws meant they had to seek care across state lines after receiving devastating news about a much-wanted pregnancy. “As soon as that ultrasound technician put that wand on my stomach and I saw the baby on the screen, I knew something was wrong,” Jen told CNN. “I was sent home to grieve and mourn and call around to see if we could get an appointment out of state,” Jen said. Mexico surpassing China as America's top trade partner signals a significant shift in global commerce dynamics. Chinese imports fell 20% in the same time period, to $427.2 billion, just slightly above Canada. Additionally, the value of Chinese imports remained above the value of Mexican imports from 2002 until this most recent data.
