Roberts was shaken by the adverse public reaction to his decision affording Trump substantial immunity from criminal prosecution. The Federal Supreme Court (STF) in Brazil suspends Elon Musk's social network after it fails to comply with orders from Minister Alexandre de Moraes to block accounts of those being investigated by the Brazilian justice system. Elon Musk's X is getting back up and running in Brazil after a months-long standoff between the company and the country's federal supreme court minister, Alexandre de Moraes. "X is proud to return to Brazil," the company wrote in a post on X from its global government affairs account. Rather than comply, Musk initially closed X's headquarters in Brazil, and said he wouldn't employ a legal representative there for a time. G1 Globo news reported that users were regaining access to X on Tuesday after the court authorization.

The report sheds light on the tight limits the White House imposed on the FBI as it undertook a “supplemental” background investigation while Kavanaugh’s confirmation hung in the balance. According to the report, those Trump comments were then flagged by an FBI public affairs office in emails to others at the agency, including some top officials. The White House finally told the official that it would be in touch it if had additional guidance to offer on the supplemental investigation. With the report, Whitehouse is calling for the agency to put in place standard procedures for how such supplemental investigations should be handled.

The Georgia Supreme Court on Monday reinstated the state’s six-week abortion ban while it reviews an appeal from the state of a lower court ruling that had struck down the law. The state Supreme Court's decision, however, left in place the lower court’s ruling blocking a separate provision of the law that had given state prosecutors broad access to the medical records of abortion patients without due process protections. The state's near-total abortion ban, known as the LIFE Act, was signed by Republican Gov. Brian Kemp in 2019 but didn’t take effect until July 2022, after it faced a legal challenge and the U.S. Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade. WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Monday turned away a Biden administration appeal in a dispute over emergency room abortion care in Texas, leaving in place a lower court victory for the Republican-led state. Circuit Court of Appeals in favor of Texas on the question of whether a federal law concerning emergency room care in some cases trumps state abortion restrictions. CNN —Oscar-winning actor Sally Field has opened up about a “life-altering” abortion she had as a teenager, aiming to highlight the issue of reproductive rights. Field recalled the ordeal in a video posted to her Instagram, saying that she got an abortion when she was 17 in Tijuana, Mexico, on the advice of a doctor, who was also a family friend. The doctor, she said, drove her to the clinic, accompanied by Field’s mother and the doctor’s wife. She has previously voiced support for Democratic candidates and long advocated for women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights and combating climate change. “We can’t go back,” Field said in the video.
