The ransomware attack on UnitedHealth's Change Healthcare subsidiary last month not only brought to light how attractive the data-rich U.S. health-care industry is to hackers and how devastating the consequences for patients and doctors, but also how sophisticated cyber criminals are becoming when targeting vulnerable sectors. Change Healthcare is the largest clearinghouse for insurance billing and payments in the U.S. Since the February 21 attack, the thousands of doctors, hospitals and other health providers that depend on Change Healthcare for billing reimbursements have not been paid as the company works to bring its systems back online. UnitedHealth told CNBC in a statement that it will cooperate with the investigation from the OCR. "Our immediate focus is to restore our systems, protect data and support those whose data may have been impacted," the company said.

CNN —The public absence of Catherine, Princess of Wales, has grown from a niche royal watcher concern to an international punchline in a matter of weeks. Droves of amateur detectives have crafted timelines and deep dives into the princess’ movements over the last few months, combining real concern with outlandish conspiracy. The uproar, the theories, the analyses, the jokes and, yes, the serious concern — they all show the multitude of ways people interact with and view the royal family. “Not [the royal family] specifically, just anyone in that kind of position.”Catherine, Princess Of Wales is seen during the opening of Evelina London's new children's day surgery unit on December 5, 2023 in London, England. "There has been a lot of attention paid to language in the report about the president’s memory," Hur said, addressing one of the most contentious parts of his report. For that reason, I had to consider the President’s memory and overall mental state, and how a jury likely would perceive his memory and mental state in a criminal trial." Rep. Adam Schiff, California Democrat, chided Hur for including the references to Biden's memory at all. The issue of both Biden's and Trump's mental acuity has been an ongoing issue in the 2024 campaign, although polling shows that voters have greater concerns about Biden's age. "We all know very well that as long as attacks on Gaza and the siege continues, the amount of aid is not enough. Of course, pressure needs to be put on Israel for this," he added, referring to Egypt's border crossing with Gaza. Read previewCopying the way mortgages work in countries such as Canada and the UK could help thaw the frozen US housing market, experts say. Prospective buyers are also balking at paying such high mortgage rates, especially when national home prices are near record levels, fueling an affordability crisis. AdvertisementOffering portable mortgages would enable hesitant sellers to keep their rock-bottom mortgage rates when they move, potentially boosting overall inventory and transaction volumes. She suggested the best fix for the frozen housing market will be if inflation cools, the Fed cuts interest rates, and mortgage rates fall to historical norms. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the government-sponsored enterprises that direct the mortgage market, would have to be on board to make mortgage portability a reality, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

Key Takeaways From Super Tuesday

Super Tuesday confirmed what Americans already knew: Barring a dramatic event, it's a two-person race now, with a November rematch between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. Here are some takeaways:Both Trump and Biden Lost Support to Protest Voters. In Minnesota, the "uncommitted" got 19% of the vote, attributed to unhappiness over Biden's policy toward the Gaza war. Trump, meanwhile, lost Vermont to the now-departed-from-the-race Nikki Haley and lost sizable chunks of the GOP primary electorate to the former South Carolina governor. Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff had two Democratic colleagues, Rep. Katie Porter and Rep. Barbara Lee, vying with him for the top two lines.

The U.S. Department of Justice has subpoenaed Globe Life Inc. and its subsidiary American Income Life seeking documents related to one of its top life insurance agencies — the Pittsburgh-based Arias Organization. Globe Life executives made no mention of the DOJ probe during a quarterly earnings call on February 8. In October, insurance regulators in Pennsylvania fined American Income Life $130,000 for engaging in deceptive consumer practices. "We do not believe the litigation will be material to Globe Life's overall results or American Income Life's agency operations," he said. Darden told the analysts that "as soon as American Income became aware of" the allegations, AIL hired an outside investigator to look into the matter.

Some single parents with disabilities said being able to take days off has helped them stay healthier and avoid burnout. North Carolina Sets Up Combative Race for Governor

North Carolina voters Tuesday set up a historic – and likely combative and extremely expensive – race for governor, nominating Democrat Josh Stein and Republican Mark Robinson for what is shaping up as the most closely watched gubernatorial race of the year. With 8% of ballots counted, Stein had won 72% of the Democratic primary vote, while Robinson captured 63% of the Republican primary vote. North Carolina is a nominally red state that is nonetheless politically competitive. Robinson has called public school teachers "wicked people" and has referred to survivors of school shootings as "prosti-tots." Robinson, Cooper says, is very much like Trump, who recently called Robinson "Martin Luther King on steroids."
