In our day-to-day lives, we're constantly looking for ways to increase our energy and avoid burnout , especially in our jobs. Despite the large differences in their roles, there were several themes within their responses that stood out as ways to prevent burnout. ATHENS, Feb 9 (Reuters) - The Greek parliament paved the way for banning political parties whose leaders have been convicted of crimes from running in elections, ahead of national polls in spring. Golden Dawn has been linked to the murder of an anti-fascism rapper and a spate of violent attacks on political opponents, immigrants and left-wing activists. The appeal trial of convicted Golden Dawn members, including Kasidiaris, began last June and could last up to two years. Greece's constitution bars an individual with a criminal record from running in elections, provided that person's guilt has been affirmed at all stages of the legal process and is exhausted in appeal. A top court decides if parties meet the conditions to run in elections.
I'm someone who sleeps until noon most weekends, so it was very out of character for me to volunteer for my most bizarre challenge yet: waking up at 5 a.m. for seven days. When I'm heading into the office, I get up at 6:45 a.m. And, on my work-from-home days, I'm probably rolling out of the bed around 8:30. Though, some things never change because I could not, and did not, stick to my 5 a.m. wake time over the weekend. And whether or not this experiment had any effect at all on my productivity. Plus, tips from a psychiatrist about how to wake up at 5 a.m. while considering your overall wellbeing.
Much as he would have liked to significantly increase supplies, Biosca-Reig said he couldn't justify investing millions of euros in new production lines unless he was paid more for the generic drug to cover sharply rising costs. European generic drugmakers say the tender system and regulated prices have fuelled a race to the bottom, and European firms are being undercut by suppliers from Asia. BRUSSELS, WE HAVE A PROBLEMThe European Medicines Agency (EMA) and European Union lawmakers acknowledge there is a problem. Half the generic medicines sold in Spain are priced below 1.60 euros per box or bottle, the country's generics manufacturing association said. But companies with smaller market shares, such as Israel's Teva (TEVA.TA), which has 5% of the region's amoxicillin market according to Medicines for Europe, are constrained.
And you might also be experiencing a small boost to your mental health. People who feel their homes reflect their identity are 1.5 times more likely to have positive feelings about them, according to the IKEA Life at Home Report. "And those who say their homes reflect them are almost twice as likely to agree that they're also a source of positive mental wellbeing," the report reads. Of those surveyed across the globe, just 58% believe their homes reflect their identity. But it's important to note that, depending on one's relationship with certain possessions, the items can end up having the opposite effect.
Protein is one of the most essential elements of a nutrient-rich diet. "It's a combination of 20 different amino acids, and those 20 different amino acids all have different roles in the body and are required in different amounts." A high-quality protein would have all of the nine essential amino acids, which can't be made and can only be acquired through diet, according to Lyon. Essential amino acids in protein are responsible for "muscle health, liver turnover and the regeneration of proteins within the body," she adds. Here are some high-quality protein sources that you can easily supplement into your diet to meet your protein needs.

Experiencing less daylight in the winter months, like February, can make you feel, well, kind of sad — and I don't just mean the feeling. As we near the end of October, we approach what is commonly referred to as SAD season, a time when seasonal affective disorder (SAD) impacts many, according to Anisha Patel-Dunn, a psychiatrist and chief medical officer of LifeStance Health, an outpatient mental health company. "Seasonal affective disorder really is a type of depression that can last on average about four to five months," says Patel-Dunn, "For most people, it's really [during] fall into the winter." Critical times when SAD is the most prevalent ranges, but it's typically at its worst during late October through late February, says Patel-Dunn. Here are some tips and tools to help you power through this SAD season.
Even if you cut out processed foods and study up on the nutrients you'd need to meet your fitness goals, it can still be difficult to determine which specific foods you'll need to buy. Smith has a new special airing on Feb. 3 called "The Ultimate Game Day Spread" which features football legends and basketball stars, making food and discussing their game day rituals. These are four foods that Smith aims to always have available, especially when he's spending more time in the gym.
Did you celebrate yourself, or did it feel too good to be true? If you experienced the latter, you were likely dealing with imposter syndrome, "a perceived sense of being a fraud," according to Dora Kamau, a mindfulness and meditation teacher at Headspace. Imposter syndrome is a process that 9% to 82% of people experience, with the rate angling higher for communities of color, a study published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine found. Thankfully, you can process your emotions and boost your confidence through reciting affirmations to yourself and participating in other empowering practices, says Kamau. Here are a few positive affirmations that Kamau suggests saying to yourself whenever your inner-voice is making you feel small.
Are you interested in strength training, but not sure where to start? Casey Johnston, cultural critic and creator of "LIFTOFF: Couch to Barbell," was once in your shoes. "When I first got into exercise, I thought cardio was sort of the only way," says Johnston, who started "She's a Beast," a fitness newsletter. When Johnston first started lifting in the gym in 2014, she was bench-pressing 20 pounds and squatting with 40; since then, she's squatted 265 pounds, "benched" 142 and deadlifted 300. It's such an incredible moment to go pick up your heavy suitcase, and your suitcase doesn't feel heavy.
The US Navy has been training dolphins and sea lions to detect undersea threats since the 1960s. "Those mammals were very real and very scary," a former US Navy SEAL officer told Insider. The program tested out a number of animals but found dolphins and sea lions to be the best suited for the mission. The US military wasn't the only one using dolphins and sea lions to protect its warships and ports. BUD/S course instructors "have a sadistic tendency to scare the shit out of students before open-water swims," the former Navy SEAL officer said.

Across the board, people in most states were willing to spend the highest amount to get a good night's sleep. Bumb three weeks ago blocked other parts of the law in a similar lawsuit brought by different plaintiffs. Those measures included bans on carrying guns in public libraries, museums, bars and restaurants and on private property without the owner's explicit permission, as well as transporting loaded guns in vehicles. Other parts of the law, including measures tightening gun licensing requirements and handgun safety rules, remain in effect. Both lawsuits argue that the state's new restrictions violate the right to bear arms guaranteed by the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Most people are lucky to live to 100, but two women lived far beyond that, joining the ranks of the world's oldest people — and they're both from France. Jeanne Calment is believed to be the world's oldest person on record, gracing the Earth for 122 years. And recently, a French nun named Sister André was the oldest person in the world until Jan. 17, when she passed at the age of 118. It's hard to pinpoint what exactly helps people live beyond age 100, considering the varying behaviors of supercentenarians, says Jean-Marie Robine, an expert demographer who studies the relationship between health and longevity. Here are some reasons why people from The Hexagon tend to have some bonus years.
Whether you realize it or not, it's likely that most of your calorie intake may be coming from highly processed foods. Nearly 60% of the calories that make up a typical American diet come from ultra-processed foods like fries and cookies, per data from a 2017 study published in the journal Population Health Metrics. And not only are those foods bad for your health, but they're also addictive, according to Joan Ifland, an expert on processed food addiction and founder of The Food Addiction Reset. "When you concentrate [foods], when you put them into a state where they can be absorbed very quickly, then they become addictive," says Ifland. "Processed foods are foods that don't look like [how] they looked when they were first harvested," she says.
Twitter signed a voluntary agreement in June with the EU related to the DSA committing to "empowering the research community" through means including sharing datasets about disinformation with researchers. The EU law would require platforms with over 45 million EU users to respond to EU-vetted researcher proposals. THE WORK OF THE CONSORTIUMThe research consortium was formed in response to backlash against Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Twitter had been preparing to disclose at least a dozen new datasets to researchers before then, the former employees said. If the research consortium is eliminated, "we will be returning to the 2017 era of limited shared communication about malicious state actor activity," said Renée DiResta, research manager at Stanford Internet Observatory.

Living to 90 is a feat in itself, but imagine being able to compete in triathlons even as you near that distinguished age. This is the reality for Dr. Joseph Maroon, an 82-year-old triathlete who also works as a consultant neurosurgeon for the Pittsburgh Steelers and medical director of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). "I tell people my goal in life is to die young as late as possible," Maroon says. "The physical activity literally saved my life." Everyone's relationship with food is different, which is not a bad thing — depending on what that relationship looks like. If you find you have a difficult or challenging relationship with food, you might want to consider a way of eating that is guided by your personal experience, rather than outside influence, like intuitive eating, according to Wendy Lopez, a registered dietitian. "With intuitive eating, instead of focusing on external food roles to guide your eating choices, one of the goals is to cultivate trust in yourself when it comes to food and the innate instincts that you have," she says. Lopez, who co-hosts nutrition podcast "Food Heaven" with Jessica Jones, is promoting a new partnership with Take Root Organics. "Intuitive eating kind of helps quiet the noise, and you're able to tune into what [eating] habits work best for you," Lopez says.
